I've made an incredible connection to this song by The Calling called "Our Lives." I just discovered this song and it couldn't fit the summer before college feeling any better. Vacation was a great time away from everything and a great chance to sort things out physically and emotionally and spend quality time with the people closest to me, my family, and namely my sister. I realize that this is a weird time in all of our lives as we near a new chapter in our lives with careers and the worries of adulthood nearing. But I came to the realization of the two most important aspect in my life...laughing and having wonderful friends to laugh with! That's why I'm writing this entry because it hurts me when I look around and see this negative aura lingering about most of my closest friends. Everybody is different, I know, but can't we all just set aside our differences, where we're going to school next year, and live up this last month of summer like it is our last! I guess I'm hoping that someday the optimism will be contagious. Work hard, play hard theory ;). I've learned so many things this summer that have put my life into perspective...like having a girlfriend, working, and developing a life on my own. One YC's fortune cookie pretty much sums up life: "To be mature is to accept imperfections" (yeah, I'm not giving you the lottery numbers...those are my winning ticket! hahahaha) I'll admit I'm scared to leave the comforts of my home but ya know what...I also believe that I'm going to show the world what I have to offer! I'm ready to live on my own and live life to its fullest in college! And more importantly I have the confidence that all of my friends are ready to get out and show the world what they are made of and I have the faith that we will all make the best of our lives!!! =) Just remember that when the going gets tough, the tough get going!
