* Music of the month:
Eklisiast (Eccelesiastes) by a Bulgarian duo
kariZma. A summer gift from my friend Marie, as sweet and kitschy as a summer gift should be. My favorite song there is
Minavash Prez Men (Passing through me). Be warned: the song is lovely, but the video is too kitschy even for me.
*Movie of the month:
Hellboy II: The Golden Army by Guillermo del Toro. Honestly, I liked the first movie more. More compact, more dark, more Mignola, less del Toro. But the second issue is still an amusing thing - and if there was just the drunken scene with Abraham Sapien it would be still worth buying tickets to.
* Book of the month:
Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch (Dobrá znamení) by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett (translated by Jan Kantůrek).
When two writing stars collide, be prepared for an enormous explosion of wild and funny ideas. It was fun to guess what comes from Terry's head and what is Neil's image - and why it blends so perfectly in a story which works.
*Comics of the month:
The Sandman Vol. 3: Dream Country (Krajina snů) by Neil Gaiman (translated by Viktor Janiš). Especially the stories Calliope and A Dream of a Thousand Cats are real jewels.
*Czech fanfiction of the month:
Domácí výuka (Homeschooling) by Umeko. For me, the surprise of the Czech Summer Charity Challenge (
Letní dobročinnosti). This chilling AU one-shot of survived Potter family and Severus Snape as their home teacher revealed that one of talented Czech translators is also a very gifted author.
