Musical composers deserve far more respect than they ever get. From listening to the average conversation, it seems as though the only ones considered worth mentioning last produced music decades, if not centuries, ago. I don't understand why those currently living aren't getting as much attention as those who are long-dead, especially in the time of the internet.
Is John Erik Kaada a relatively unknown name in the Americas simply because he mixes a more modern-sounding guitar in with the rest of the orchestra? This is a serious question, I sometimes wonder if classical music purists have a deep-seated fear of change, even if it's a change that has been happening since before they were born.
Why is Tom Waits known almost solely for his voice, and not for all of the insanely intricate songs and effects that he and his wife have created? Is it really so easy to be appeased by a performance, so much that one feels no need do look further for more?
If anybody has an idea that could easy my confusion, please tell me.
