In my wanderings around Kharkov, I keep walking past a half-ruined house. This in itself is not so unusual. What makes this building special is that on its third floor someone has very recently installed three new custom-made windows with triple glazing. So recently, in fact, that they are still in protective strips.
This strikes me as an extremely apt metaphor for the current situation in Ukraine:
Ruined house. New windows.
