Quotes, yet again

The choir season is almost over - just one more rehearsal before the concert, and only two posts with quotes. Disgraceful. Even more so since it is my laziness rather than absence of anything worth mentioning that is the main cause.

I do keep writing them down, so here is, what is possibly the final selection from this year - unless we have a hilarious concert. This is not such an inconceivable possibility, as some of the pieces we are going to sing then we've seen just once... in a hurry... on our way to the pub...

We are definitely not over-rehearsed for the coming performance.

Thomas Tallis, Mass Puer Natus est Nobis, Sanctus

Conductor to Sopranos: If you follow the tenors here...
Tenors: Ha, ha.
Conductor: Ha, ha.

Conductor (singing, impersonating a soprano): D-C-B-E-A
Conductor: Is that what you were singing?
Sopranos: Yeees (shifty eyes).

Agnus Dei

Alto: We have "Agnus Degnus" printed here.
Conductor: It still doesn't excuse you from singing it too slowly.

William Byrd, This day Christ was born

Tenor: I suppose, this sets the date for the concert?..

Sopranos: At least, we make you laugh...

Conductor: If you know what to expect, it won't take you by surprise. If you don't know what to expect... you are going to be surprised.
