Fashion Week in NYC. Normally, I do not give a shit. HOWEVER:
These:
This is from Vera Wang's collection. Cloche-y (but not quite) hat! (Hats are back, people! CLOCHE-Y HATS, which make everyone look like a kickass flapper.) Asymmetrical neckline (that doesn't look contrived)! Swingy material but fitted and tailored perfectly. LOVE.
And then this stunning showstopper by Rodarte, two sisters who live in a little cottage and sew everything by HAND:
This dress looks like it was woven by fairies who were tripping balls. And that, my friends, is a high compliment.
Look! LOOK! Look at the shoes (OMG SPIKY and with ANKLE STRAPS) and the artfully webbed stockings! The colors - the swirly-twirly, lipsticky colors! The ethereal, flattering cut, augmented by the cunning pattern placement (for maximum figure-flattery)! The glorious, "fuck you, I wanna be girly" hemline! The crazy-but-not-too neckline! *swoon* (And I am not typically a woman who gets swoony over clothes. Honestly.)
If I owned this dress I would feel morally obligated to learn how to tango. (Except I would probably wear different shoes out of respect for my partner's package.)
If these two outfits together did not cost as much as a car, I would be all over that.
