I don't get many opportunities to remember the Expos anymore. This is one of them. He was never my favourite Expo, but even as a very young child just starting to enjoy the sport, I understood that he was special. What a great picture:

Sad, sad story.

The MLB clip, great crowd in Montreal. Was that the playoffs?

No. It was 1992, and that was before 8,000/night was commonplace. The Expos averaged over 20,000 that year - better than the Tigers.

Also, it would have been the last home game of the year, and Carter had already announced his retirement, so I'm sure there was a bump at the gate that date for those two things.

Detroit was awful then.

They've been in the 30k's/game for a while now if I remember right.

I know - every team has its reasons for bad attendance. Just saying that there were many years where the Expos drew respectable numbers. But I know you know that.
