My uncle had a stroke the other day. By the sounds of it, it was a pretty bad one, too. He was pretty healthy. Got lots of exercise. Had a fairly balanced diet, from what I saw. Skinny as a rod. But, he smoked. Same thing that brought on a stroke for mom about thirteen or fourteen years ago. Sadly, if her own stroke didn't shake her out of the habit, I don't suppose Uncle Bill's will, either.

They aren't sure if he's going to be able to work again. Apparently, his worker's comp doesn't last very long. After that, he has to go on Employment Insurance. And that sucks, because he's worked at the same bloody blue collar job for as long as I can remember. Gotta be about 20 years, now. Buzz Hargrove, where are you? My uncle needs you.

My dad has offered to go down to Keswick for a few weeks when my uncle gets out of the hospital, to help out around the house while my aunt's off at work. Both of my folks are going down there tomorrow. I guess I'll have a better idea of the state he's in when I next speak to them.

The weather stinks. Summer stinks. I hope the thunderstorm gets here soon. But I hope the power doesn't go out like it did earlier today.

I've had a bad headache since I went to sleep last night. Probably shouldn't be in front of the computer.

health, family
