MORE COLD THINGS

  • Environment Canada says that according to their rounding down we have now officially hit -40. (And for you Yanks that's, um, also -40, ok?)
  • The fog is so thick that beyond the front doors of the building I can see maybe a football field away. It is really wild out there.
  • I talked with Hiedi on the phone a little while ago and she said that there was frost around the light switch in the kitchen this morning.
  • Hiedi and I had been planning to go stand outside like a couple of suckers tomorrow to try and scoop up two of the last 150 remaining tickets to the Hockey Day in Canada WHL game here next month. The only way to get them is to line up at Sport Yukon. Doors open at 11am. Should we still do this?
  • Another HDIC event is really cool to me anyway: A game between Ottawa Senators alumni (they haven't announced who yet) and the Dawson City Nuggets senior team. (Amateur hockey historians among you will know that the Dawson City Nuggets and the Ottawa Silver Seven were the teams to contest the 1905 Stanley Cup - one of the most famous Stanley Cup Challenges of its era. The Dawson City team travelled by dogsled, by bicycle, by foot, by train, by steamer, and by train again to get to Ottawa. They lost the two-game total goal series by a score of 32-4.) I think I want to go whether we get the WHL tickets or not. I'll wear my old-school Sens' hoodie and be one of the 2% of the crowd cheering for the big, bad city boys, haha.
  • My mother saw the temperature and emailed me to see whether I'd lost any limbs or digits.
  • I really, really hope Yann lets me out early so I can go pick up our food for the weekend and take a bunch of pictures for you guys along the way.
  • This is so cool, and I mean that.
