I know next to nothing about the technical aspects of the Internet, but I know what I like and what I don't like and something I don't like is happening more and more frequently. In layman's terms, I don't like when I use my browser's back and forward buttons and the page that I'm going back or forward to automatically refreshes. The downside is that if I was reading something really long on a web page, and that page refreshes, my browser automatically goes back to the top instead of wherever I was when I left the page. Facebook is chief among the offenders, but there are lots of other sites jumping on the bandwagon.
I find it annoying to have to scroll to find my place again. I've started using the 'open link in new tab' feature more to try and compensate, but eventually, you reach a point where there are 235908 tabs open, and any chance you had at keeping track of things is down the drain.
If any of you do that kind of stuff for a living (and I know some of you do), an explanation of the merits of this, and the thinking behind the trend would be appreciated.
