Stupid LJ.

Is anyone else having a million problems with LJ lately? It would take a lot - an awful lot - to get me to leave LJ, but I do feel like I'm being tested. I have to post comments and entries four, five or even more times to get them to stick, no matter how many times I click on the link to my inbox, that page won't load, sometimes my friends' page ( Read more... )

I mean this as an honest (and not a snarky) question: what are the benifits of paying for LJ?

Let me be more specific: what appeals to you about a paid account that you feel is worth spending money on?

Well, the most visible thing that I get from being a paid user is the a ridiculous number of userpics. But there's other stuff, too: photo storage space, voice posts (they have a phone # for Canada now, though I haven't used it). You can also customize the look of your journal a whole lot more as a paid user. I really, really like that being a paid user means I don't have to see ads anywhere on LJ.

The main reason though, is just that I use the service a whole lot, and I just want to support it.

If you have a basic account, then you don't have any ads either. :) Though I guess if you want to have a lot of user icons, that won't work, because you're only allowed 6. Though I always found 6 to be more than enough, and I almost never even use all 6...lol. I could never understand the obsession of having 20+ user icons....er, because, you know, LJ is all about me, apparently. ;P

Good point about wanting to support it though, never thought of that...:)

Well, if you have a basic account it's possible that you'll have to see ads occasionally, but not very often. If you visit the journal of someone with a "Plus" account and you yourself aren't a paid user, you see the ads that sponsor their journal. It's not a huge deal, but it can/does happen.

I used to not care about userpics either. But gradually, over time, I started adding them, and now I love 'em. :p
