le weekend.

So, the weekend started on Thursday night, when Lauryn and I went to dinner at Amelio's. We followed that up with a vernissage for projects that came out of her HIV/AIDS class. We saw part of a play called The Notorious H.I.V., very graphic and dirty pictures on the walls and a dress made of condoms still in the wrappers. And a purse made of little lube packets. Pretty fun stuff, actually.

We retired to my apartment where we watched the pretty forgettable Man of the Year. Well, one of us did, anyway. The other promptly fell asleep.

The next day, my folks came into town to take us out for lunch. Escargot, wine, pasta and dessert were all consumed, and, you know, it was really all quite lovely. My parents gave me pretty significant gifts, too: a new-ish mountain bike, the Golden Dogs CD I'd asked for and a couple of other little things in an Easter basket. And my father and I made some semi-plans for when I visit him in Toronto later this week.

I had money burning a hole in my pocket, so that day I went out and treated myself to an open box iPod mini. $149 for 6 gigs. I'm pleased with it so far. At night, I headed over to Tracey's for drunken Trivial Pursuit with her, Sabrina, Matt and Misha, and we laughed a whole lot. And I guess Misha won. Or did I? I can't even remember now. Matt got drunker (and therefore funnier) than the rest of us.

Saturday night, Wendy, Lauryn, Steve, Orlando and Marina joined me for Indian food across the street from my place, and then most of us headed up to my apartment for The Hockey Game and our own little drunken Trivial Pursuit game. It was a sad evening on the hockey side, but at least I still have one team left in the thing (about which I'll soon be talking all your ears off, haha). The food was delicious, but the waiters need some more motivation or somethin'. Next time I'll order in. And next time the Habs and Leafs play such a critical game, I will not go there half an hour before it.

Sunday morning/afternoon, L and I went to Chez Cora for the first time and I had insanely rich French Toast. And strawberries in maple syrup - yum. Then, through our collective haze that night, Marina and I watched Sunday night cartoons and cheered against some woman on Deal or no Deal.

Finally, Lauryn and I did all kinds of shopping yesterday. And walking. I picked up a helmet and lock for the new bike. We were kind of girly - taking our time in certain stores that boys don't exactly frequent and finally settling in on St-Denis for coffee and a slice of very rich cake, and admiring our male model-like waiter's features.

You know what? It was a really great weekend.

Starting tomorrow night, I'll be hunkering down every other night or so to watch the Senators do their thing. I can't wait. If it happens that any of you want to build some sort of socializing around a Sens game, talk to me, because depending on the specifics, I could be interested, too. Sorry Leaf nation: enjoy golf season.

I'm changing my default icon until we are eliminated from the playoffs gloriously return the Stanley Cup to Canada.
