He took out some of the questions, though, it seems.
1. Of all the bands & artists in your collection, which one do you own the most albums by?
Gotta be Elvis Costello. I'd estimate around 15 or 16.
2. What was the last song you listened to?
Right now, I'm listening to Pandora (The Delta '72 Radio), and it's playing Ladies' Choice by The Diplomats of Solid Sound. What a name, huh?
3. What's on your record player right now?
At home, there's a Promise Ring LP on it. Nothing Feels Good.
4. Whats your favourite instrument?
Piano.
5. What's your favourite local band?
I don't know very many local bands aside from the ones that are semi-famous now, to be honest. I enjoyed going with
raccoonbonapart to see Launie Anderssohn. I'm also fond of the Sunday Sinners.
6. What was the last show you attended?
Mike Evin and company a week and a half ago at Casa.
7. What was the greatest show you've ever been to?
Can't limit it to just one. The Delta '72 at the Upstairs Club was phenomenal. The Tragically Hip on the Another Roadside Attraction tour back in '95 or so put on a great show (as did the Inbreds, Eric's Trip and the other half-dozen or so openers). Sleater-Kinney at La Tulipe was pretty wicked. The Ska is Dead tour at Club Soda was lots of fun. Royal Wood was really good in Halifax, too, lack of stage-patter or no.
8. What's the worst band you've ever seen in concert?
The New Pornographers were pretty lousy. I love their music, but Carl Newman (A.C. Newman, whatever) can't hit the notes he's supposed to, and it throws the whole thing off. Also, at the time that I saw them, they had the feel of almost just, like, a bunch of session players coming together randomly, and not that of a real band. Maybe they've improved on one or both of those fronts.
9. What band do you love musically but hate the members of?
I guess Ben Folds seems like a bit of an asshole, based on interviews I've seen.
10. What is the most musically involved thing you have ever done?
I was in a stupid, dumb band in high school for a time.
11. What show are you looking forward to?
Like
5_leaves_left, the Belle and Sebastian show coming up here intrigues me, but other than that, there's not a whole lot out there that I'm really jazzed about right now.
12. What is your favourite band shirt?
The Sleater-Kinney one. And not just because it's the one I bought most recently, I like to think.
13. What musician would you like to hang out with for a day?
This might change depending on my mood, but I'll say Dave Bidini of the Rheostatics.
14. What musician would you like to be in love with you for a day?
Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney.
15. Metal question: Assless leather chaps vs. Vest and no pants?
No pants, like, completely exposed? I'd have to go with the chaps, if I'm understanding this right.
16. Sabbath or solo Ozzy?
Sabbath with Ozzy.
17. Ian or Dio?
?
23. How many music-related videos & dvds do you own?
Zero.
24. Do you like Journey?
No.
25. Do you like Abba?
No.
26. What is your favourite movie soundtrack?
Swing Kids, maybe? Since I don't see many movies, this one's tough for me.
27. What was your last musical "phase" before you wizened up?
In grade six or so, I was listening to top-40 and Bon Jovi. Since then, it's been a slow progression to get to where I'm at. In grade seven, I was listening to Urge Overkill, and I still listen to that, so I was on my way, then.
28. What's the crappiest CD or record you've ever bought?
I'd need to be in front of my CD collection to figure that one out. If I think to, I'll edit this later in the day when I'm home.
29. Do you prefer vinyl or CDs?
Vinyl, but it's hard or impossible to get a lot of what I want on vinyl.
30. What is the coolest album cover ever?
I haven't a clue. This is another one I'd need to be in front of the music collection for.
31. All totaled, how much do you spend on music a month?:
Very little.
32. Doesn't have to be your favourite band, but who is your most memorable concert?
Probably the Hip show at Capital City Speedway. It poured through the first half of the day-long show, and the whole infield was mud. I was doing head-first dives through the mud by the end of the day. The OC Transpo shuttle took us to Lansdowne Park where my father was waiting for me with his car. His reaction? "Jesus. I think I have some garbage bags in the trunk."
33. What would you be without music?
An even more avid public radio listener.
