Busking, sick days, new cars and fat hats.
Long post to make up for the recent lack
Ok so I know that I have been neglecting you all, It has been a while since I last posted on my journal. But the past week has been absolute hell.
SO I worked Friday evening, I am scheduled to work until 2am but I am usually out of here by 12 Mid. Well I did not get to leave until about 3:30 am. And I was scheduled to come in to work at 2 pm the next day. Well something I ate did not agree with me or something cause I got Sick. Really sick I was hugging the toilet for about 2 hours.
Well the next day I got a call at 2:30 and I though before I answered it I forgot to call and tell them that I was hugging the toilet. But I also thought it is about 5:30 in the morning and The supervisor does not want to hear this at this hour. Well I call the guard house and tell Jarrett that I am sick and will not be making it in that day.
Well I spent Saturday and Sunday sleeping and looking around online at different bucker resource sites as well as at the **** ***** (Name with helled in case it does not work out this year) and I am attempting to get a fat contract with them. If it works I will be doing what I love where I love for $$$ which I always love. Well then I started thinking about my current job. How much I enjoy the hell out of it and how much I (Enter Sarcasm) love the pay (Exit Sarcasm) I figured out how much I make a week. $240, And I figured out that to make my aspirations worth it, (Working as a street bucker at a few different pitches) I would have to make in a days total, $72, that is to make it worth it, to beat what I make now I would have to make more then $48. I am going up to the pitch my next day off and if I make more then $48 on a week day then I am Quitting my current job and starting to busk for a living as soon as I get caught up.
I think it is very attainable, the hours would kick ass and the pay has got to be better then I do now, on top of that it is doing something I LOVE. It will be much easier and more attainable once I get my car in the next week or so. And on top of anything else I will finally have a job I love that I can actually make a living on.
Now don’t get me wrong I am still gonna do company business (Hat Trick Illusions) I am also going to definatly try and get contracts from my street work but I see a very profitable venue here and I am gonna try to seize it.
That Being said, Anyone wanting to donate to the Get Devin the equipment he needs fund to get me my cups, Pouch, Mini Soccer Balls, wands and table, then contact me or leave Small unmarked bills, (LOL etc...)
Once I have the cups I want I think I will definatly make a lot more money as well as the pouch cause then I could do my final load completely invisibly. But the props I have will work till I can afford the $900 worth of equipment that I need.
For anyone wondering that knows anything about the magic community more so the cups and balls community, I do a modified Gazzo routine. Should everything work out the way I need it to though I need 6 coconuts and a watermelon that all fit underneath the props I am getting.. All of the props fit into the pouch I need and load so smoothly that it is like real magic, a page out of Hogwarts.
In any case, so today is Monday, well it is about to be Tuesday and today I had even more fun. I woke up to my Mother yelling because I did not fuel the car last night after taking Rose and Joe out to Wal- Mart.. I deserved the toung lashing because there was no gas in the car but when I received it in my defense there was no fuel in it either. I had to spend the last $5 I owned to be able to get out of the house, I had Cabin Fever. Well then Mom and I went to a shop or two and I signed my Truck over to Jason Ramsey. Sadly for no cash Just to make up for Towing and Storage. So they own it now. Oh well.
I got a call once I got back to the house and it was from Paul. I had called and left a message for him about the bill I got from Avery county EMS. He told me that he had never received a call from them. Since the incident. But I have told them to call him and if they don’t then they are the ones that don’t get the money from the insurance company. So what ever.
I also got an e-mail from Taylor Hutchens, I have told him repeatedly that I am trying my damndest to get his money to him but it is not the easiest thing in the world to do right now. He keeps saying to me that things are tight for him right now and I understand Things are tight for me too. But you don’t see me harassing him. So I am going to square a couple of things away over the next few weeks and hopefully start recouping some of the money I have into this damned business venture. I am going to try and have a worth wile turn out from the festivals. But it is looking a little grim right now, I need to get a number of things before the 1st and second weekend of august, More printer ink, A good Head Shot to sell, Photo paper, more flyers, A box of sharpies, I need 2 bubble machines before the 27th, I need like 10-15 cases of Drinks. I need lamination stuff for some of my signs. And I need some sanity. I am hoping to have a more then adequate turn out for both festivals and I need to make some fat hats. If I don’t then this will have all been a horrible waste of time.
I have a return performance in Statesville. Camp Sunrise wants me back. And I can’t wait they are a great group to perform for. I just hope that the kids and adults start getting my name out there. I want to run out of every piece of paper and flyer that I own at these festivals. In fact I want to have to order a rush box of business cards from vista print. Cause I run out before hand. But that is not likely in the very near future, especially because I want all of my card hand outs to be quality not quantity.
Well The new car should be down here within the next week or so, I am so stoked, I need it. BADLY. This way I know that when I put $75 in gas in the car in 3 days that I am using that much. Not everyone else riding around on my dime. So, The new car will also give me more of an opportunity to go to the pitch when I need to.
Crap, BRB Gotta Go on a round.
Ok, so if everything goes as planned then I will in the next 2-4 weeks have my car, be enrolled in school and be receiving my financial aid. I will also be working my pitch in Asheville. And possibly one in Charlotte. Then I will also be ready for the 2 festivals and have performed my first call back. With any luck I will not need even a part time job. My plan is to once I start Busking spend only what I need, Gas, Fruit for props, And permits where required, A meal or two depending on how long I am out on the pitch, I will bank the rest to save the money to but the needed equipment, then I will bank everything barring costs and save enough to get my own place. Once I achieve that I will save again to bank $30,000 once I bank and maintain that for a while I will get my affairs in order and go to working the streets across the country. Once I have spent 6 months, or my account drops below $15,000 then I am coming home. Now this is all aside from the costs of keeping the company running, and getting the store proper running.
So that is the goal.
In other news work, sucks as usual. I can’t wait to get out of this job. Once I can I will definatly be a happier man. But until then I will make due. Looking forward to the festivals and shows I have ahead and really looking forward to that contract that is remaining nameless. I honestly hope that it pulls through. If it does then you will see an extremely happy Devin.
