TEN TRUE FACTS AND A SECRET -
1. Giorgi grew up with his mother, Ekaterina, for most of his life. His father, Iosef, was present during the first few years of his life before he decided to move to away. The couple decided mutually to divorce and the process was simple. Ekaterina didn’t want her son to experience the tortures of a nasty divorce. The boy would travel to his father’s home every summer, however, to visit his father and the children who lived with him. His cousins.
2. Well. At least a few of them were. Giorgi spoke very little Russian; so when he came to visit his father during the summers, he relied on his relatives to translate for him. Unfortunately, there were a few instances where either his cousin’s were not around or Ivan decided to mistranslate a few words. Giorgi looked to Ivan for protection throughout the years, but never received it, giving up over time. Needless to say, Giorgi got beaten up a lot. And despite not getting along with Ivan, he still remained somewhat close with Yekaterina.
3. Back in Georgia however, his mother was his only influence. And unlike back near Iosef’s home, he had a lot of friends. Mind you, most of them were girls. Actually, his mother began to worry about him when the only friends he would bring home were girls. At first she thought him quite the ladies’ man. But when he got to be about fifteen, and he was not only playing with dolls but shopping with the girls, she had an idea as to what was going on. In the end, Giorgi never had to come out to his mother.
4. During the school year and holidays in Georgia, Giorgi’s mother would cook an extravagant feast that was titled a supra. There would be an assortment of dishes prepared and all set up on one table, with large amounts of wine. These days were Giorgi’s favorite days of the year and as the years went on, he would help his mother cook more and more. Although, through the years he also would be caught stealing sips of the various amounts of wine. These experiences are what ultimately made Gio want to be a chef and restaurant owner.
5. The brief tastes of wine that Giorgi sneaked during the holidays turned to gulps and then whole glasses. He was a sneaky fellow, and only got caught a few times. This didn’t exactly benefit him, as he was somewhat of a wino by the time he was sixteen. He didn’t limit himself to just wine persay. That was just what he preferred.
6. As far as relationships go, Gio has never had a long term one. Never one to cheat, however, he has been cheated on. Hence his hesitance in spending more than a few months with one guy. He had put all his time and love into that guy and in the end it was for nothing. He’s not totally against the thought of a long-term relationship. It’s just. He doesn’t want to experience heartbreak again. It shows weakness and he hates showing weakness.
7. There have also been a few tragedies in Giorgi’s life beside heartbreak. For one, his father died while he was out of the country from apparently natural causes. Giorgi did love his father but he did not necessarily agree with most of his choices. He took the death pretty well as he never really knew the details of what happened. He also does not know that Ivan was present during his death. His mother also passed away recently. She had been suffering from typhus for a few years but stuck it out as much as she could to ensure that her son grew up to be a good man. To this day he feels as if he has let his mother down.
8. Giorgi got into a good college despite participating in a few nefarious activities. During the years he spent there, he made sure to learn English, get a major in culinary arts and begin work on a minor in business. Each of these working towards his goal of opening up a Georgian restaurant in the States. With his last connection to Georgia gone, and learning that his cousins had moved to America, he decided to take the big leap and make his way to Liberty for good.
9. Giorgi’s personality could be described as…eccentric. He gives off the sense that he really does not care what other people think. He tends to be crazy and a bit obnoxious some of the time, but allows himself to be that way. His actions confuse everyday people but he gives no second thought to them. Despite his abnormal ways, he also is considered a very good friend. To very few people. He gives his trust to almost no one, unless he is possibly under the influence of course. Giorgi is an expert flirt as well, at least in his opinion. Some would say otherwise. Past boyfriends would agree. He tries his hardest to get along with people. That is, unless you just give him the absolute worst first impression.
10. Although food is one of Giorgi’s great loves, he does like to keep in good shape. One of his favorite ways to do so is rugby. He played competitively during high school and prided himself in his skills. Most likely because in his mind, it makes up for the bullying he received during his summers. He was even offered to play for a college team in Italy, but turned down the offer to pursue his real dream. And though he has stopped playing in a league, he still appreciates a casual game here or there.
11. Gio has somewhat of a problem with keeping secrets. It could be something as simple as a surprise party or a life-changing fact, but he will most likely tell. Anyone who knows Giorgi well enough will figure this out quickly enough. Usually the hard way.
12. Giorgi has somewhat of a hard time remembering to keep his clothes on sometimes. He doesn’t even know why. Thankfully, he doesn’t get too far into the snow before he realizes it’s kind of cold and runs back to get a jacket. When it’s hot however…well. He may forget to put his shirt and/or pants on all together. He is trying to get better about this though, he really is.
13. Gio does not know what his father did to his cousins. He knows of no abuse and no torment. Therefore, he has no clue really why Ivan detests him so much. Iosef did not treat Giorgi the same way he did Ivan and the rest. In fact, his father practically ignored him. Gio sometimes finds himself to be jealous that his father paid more attention to his cousins than his own son. When in all reality he probably should be thankful. He doesn’t know that though.

The truth is; there was one night when Gio was just about five years old, when he awoke to screaming in the middle of the night. Upon investigating, he found his father beating his mother quite severely. When Iosef finally saw Giorgi, he administered a punishment to him as well. Because of how catastrophic that night was, Gio has forgotten that night along with a majority of his early childhood. Through the years, he grew to have no clue that the event even happened, though he does wonder where that scar on his neck came from sometimes.

The airport was a very strange place. Unfortunately, it was also a familiar one for a man named Giorgi. The stale, stagnant scent of people, rank airport food (cringe), and these silly security measures all spelled out one thing. Airport. Ah well. All those summer days spent trying to learn how to navigate the damned place had finally paid off. Or at least, Gio thought so. America was different to say the least. He had finally made it though! America. The land of opportunity! And to Giorgi, that one cousin he missed messing with so much.
As the tall man inched through the security line bit by bit, a dastardly smile crept upon his face. Oh Ivan, how he detested him. Yet at the same time, he couldn’t wait to see him. Wonder if that nose of his has gotten any bigger, he thought. All of a sudden, he felt himself and the person before him in the assembly line collide. “Agh. Ra jojokheti.” Paying attention in line was apparently a useful trait here. “Uk'atsravad…” He looked forward to see his victim; a svelte young man probably in his late teens. Maybe even early twenties if he was lucky. The boy was cute enough to make Gio feel bad for his action, so he continued, “So sorry about that,” he winked, “These lines, they are cramped, you know?”
This only warranted a look of confusion from the boy. Perhaps Giorgi would need to work on his English a bit more, if he even wanted to begin to think about flirting with these American guys. For now, he just needed to pass through the rest of security and he would be home free. So, as the Georgian finally made his way out of the hell-hole, he let himself take a deep breath of the polluted air and began his journey. He had walked all the way away from the airport and to the bus stop when he suddenly froze. Giorgi had forgotten something. Where the hell was he going to stay here? With a swift self-smack to the face, he boarded the bus, letting it take him to wherever sounded best.
