...new york, new york...
frank sinatra wasn't kidding around in what i think must have been a really bad case of FOMO. one thing is for sure - you get all kinds in new york - from the down trodden to those who are clearly from the upper crust, to those in between. everything seems to happen in NYC, and you could probably spend a lifetime doing things in new york without being bored.
living there on the other hand seems...difficult. navigation is easy, but everything seems just that little bit out of your way. food options are endless, but unless you know where to go, you're mostly stumbling around looking for something that isn't a white castle, a baskin robbins/dunking donuts (yes, they come together most times) or a subway. (by the way, white castle is pretty crap - but at least innovative).
speaking of the food, america in general doesn't have that refined a palette. there is variety, yes. and i did have some specialties (grays papaya hot dogs in new york - awesome, dag's deep dish pizza in chicago - so good), but nothing that i'd say melbourne couldn't top. i'm banking on the seafood in boston to really bring it home. or maybe wendy's. there's still time to test these out. special mention must go to nathan's burger grill in new york, near the famed madison square garden - burgers are awesome there. something in the sauce...
