A lot has happened this weekend.
First, and foremost, Tricia was taken to the Emergency Room. Seems like a piece of falling glass decided to land on her left index finger and make a nasty gouge on the thumb side, leaving a 'v' shaped piece of skin flapping in the wind. The doctors in the Emergency Room decided to give her three stitches and send her on the way.
Total time spent in the Emergency Room: 4 hours.
Total amount of money spent in Emergency Room: $75 Dollars.
Feelings associated with seeing your Fiance hurt: Unbearable.
Lessons learned from all this crap-o-la: "Examine your surroundings to 1) make sure
everything is safe and 2) become familiar
with all objects in the area."
And now for the background details on this adventure: Trish and I went to Target and bought two more book cases for my computer room. Well, we were in the living room assembling them. It came time to join the bottom half to the top half of the bookcase. Well, I forgot about the low ceiling and the glass light fixture that was above us. I had asked Trish to help me and so I lifted up the top half and lifted it to high and it crashed into the glass fixture causing that to shatter and Trish lifted her hands to protect her and a piece of glass landed on her finger and cut her. I still feel really bad that she got hurt.
Also happening this weekend are I got my budget updated (my records were getting a couple days back-logged as my check register ran out of space and I had to go get a new one), and I got my two bookcases assembled and installed and I have begun populating them with cds, dvds, and books.
I am going to buy some flat wood to make myself more shelves and I am doing some custom adjustments to these bookcases and have run out of shelves.
I am closer to being completely moved in and settled in. I still have the following to do:
- pick up any mail from my parents house.
- update all previously setup utilities with new apartment phone number
- begin switching over all remaining mailings to use new address / phone number
- complete moving into apartment (little things / odds & ends, still at my parents house)
- purchase and assemble a living room coffee table / foot table
- look into getting a "real" kitchen table / kitchen chairs
- unpacking the remaining boxes
