First off, I'm mad at everyone who didn't put me up on The Wire 3, 4 years ago. I just ordered Seasons 1 and 2 from half.com, but most of it has been spoiled for me through watching this seaon anyway. Though I'm still kinda hyped about watching how Bunny is gonna try and "legalize" drugs, how Stringer gets set up and the port's framework. And I'm ( Read more... )

I remember thinking, when first saw The Wire, that it almost felt more like a documentary compared to Oz.

After having watched Oz, then trying to watch The Wire, I was almost... I guess, reverse shocked. I'm used to tv shows exageratting to try and get my attention. Like I think the first time some silliness happened I was waiting for a kid to get killed over it. And granted there are definitely some senseless killings in the show, but not like Oz. Oz is like running through themes and plots to try and tell the story. The Wire is more concerned with plot development. I really appreciate that now.

And doesn't he have the sweetest smile ever? EVER!? It's heart melting. Damn his young ass.

It's crazy how attached we get to these characters, right? lol Some serious mess goes down with Mike (I won't say if he gets killed or not, but it's big either way) and I'm going from sitting with my mouth open to yelling "Michael NOOOOO" at the screen. lol Tristan's a good actor too.

i'm blown away at how experienced all these kids are. reading their bios, they've been at it longer than some of the adults. i'm amazed they're able to pull of these very mature roles. especially since i daresay these kids grew up on studio sets and backlots, not on any mean city streets.

Maaaaan, check it.... with this last season, right, I kept hearing 'bout how dope the show was, and I was all, "OKAY, FINE, I'LL WATCH AN EPISODE!" So I downloaded the first episode of this season.... and I was hooked. Right after that I downloaded every season, beginning with Season 1, and watched 'em all in order. It is my favorite drama ever. Some how it surpassed Law and Order. That's an achievement! Haha.

When you get all those previous episodes and watch how that dude managed to legalize drugs and what it supposedly did for the neighborhood.... it's so well done. It's not a Heaven or Hell thing. There's nothing ever black and white about this show and I love that ( ... )

That's pretty much what happened with me. My boss was like "do you watch The Wire?" I was all "listen... I watched OZ. That was my HBO drama quota." lol She was all "no.... You MUST watch The Wire!!" lol And I have HBO On Demand so I had no reason to not give it a try. So unfortunately I started this season, but like I said I already ordered Seasons 1 and @. I'll be ordering Season 3 come next pay check. For me to be buying ish I haven't even SEEN yet is serious. lol bI know I gonna have to go back and re-watch this seaon to fully get all the extra details and nuances. It'll be kinda cool to re-watch it with new eyes.

"There's nothing ever black and white about this show and I love that."Me too! Though there are some characters that are kinda one-dimensional. Like Officer Walker. That dude is portrayed as pure evil. He serves his purpose though. How funny was it when the kids threw ( ... )

as a local i have to give them props on keeping things realistic and throwing in lots of area references. but they also have a way of making the issues so universal. so what's going on at a corner in west baltimore is relatable to someone in brooklyn, compton, chicago, wherever. oh and i don't know what's worse, my crush on michael or my crush on marlo stansfield.

i honestly didn't know that you weren't up on the wire. girl, where have you been? haha. no, but for real, you have missed a lot, but each season is so distinct that i don't think it's a big deal that you're watching this season before watching the other seasons. well, season 1 and season 2 were closely related, you may be a little lost if you watched season 2 before you watched season 1, because season 1 sets it all up for you. it's great. you MUST watch the other seasons as soon as you get them.

I try to stay up and watch it- my husband makes me-lol... but then I get upset because at midnight he'll watch the next weeks episode (here on comcast-on demand) I feel like he's cheating some system or something.. just because I can't stay up and watch it lol

lol silly. It's addicitve! Even my bed-by-10:30 behind stays up late to watch the On Demand eps 'cause I wouldn't lose it if I had to go a whole day w/o seeing the next ep. lol
