The Grudge indeed

I think we need to quit transplanting movies from Japan. Maybe there's some sort of cultural difference that isn't being adequately explained/translated, but every time a Japanese movie is remade for America it is the biggest piece of shit ever put on film.

First I had the unfortunate luck of watching The Ring.

...HATED IT!!!!

And more recently I watched The Grudge. Can someone please tell me what the point of this movie is?!?! Let me save you the anguish I experienced with a quick summary

A little boy wanders around a house with powder on his face scaring grown ass adults into dementia and comas.
A small woman, also with powder on her face and lots of hair, "haunts" the family that moves into the house she died in.

Moral of the movie: White people stay away from Japan!!!!

And someone explain to me why white people were the stars of a movie set in the Japan. The movie was majority Japanese folks, set IN Japan and still somehow the Japanese took a backseat. I hate this fuckin country. I hate this fuckin movie.

Both this and The Ring have that eerie music playing in the background trying to convince me that it's scary and cosmic and "deep." YOU DIDN'T FOOL ME, FUCKERS! Playing bad church organ music with a harpsichord and getting your grandmother to breathe heavy on the soundtrack doesn't scare me, slickies.

Part of the reason why I wanted to see this movie was because in all the previews that I saw Sarah Michelle Gellar had a butt coming out of her head when she was in the shower. Turns out it was little powder face boy's HAND! That, my friends, is what we call false advertising. For me, the only way the movie can redeem itself is for everyone to go back and refilm that part with an ass forming out of SMG's head and re-structuring the whole movie with a damned good explanation for it!

If they make The Grudge 2, I will only go see it if they reconcile this for me. I want the ass-head!

race, ranty rant rant, privilege
