Hey that's a great ideal, I'm glad you're doing that. I'm going to start my own registration drive. In the immediate I'm going to pick up some registration forms from the the State Voting Commission(I talk to the people from there who were doing the voting registration at my organizations event last weekend about this) and register people I know. Mostly young kats, and folks in the hood that I knew(but whoever).

But by this summer I want to be running an all out voter registration campaign. I don't know if I'm going to creat an organization to do it, attach myself to another organization, or get the organization that I'm an executive member of (Nashville Kemet Jubilee) to make it a project. I can also see about running it through my church (they love to do things to make the church visible). I used to be the Community Service director there, and I was going to make political action apart of the CS program, but I didn't get a chance to develope that before I resigned.

I've been planning on doing this for a long time and I need to get cracking on this because the deadline for registration for the state and local election in august is June 5th, and state and local elections are very important. In some ways more important than federal. I surmize, though I'm not sure about the deadline for registering for the november elections, would be the end of september/begining of october.

Oh that's so great! And thank you for reminding me that there are deadlines for registration. I may want to put that part into the flyers as well.

So I'm thinking I may talk to a few people in my neighborhood. Ask them if they vote and ask the ones who don't vote WHY they don't vote and work from there.

Good luck on your drive! I hope it's successful. And keep me posted on its development!!!
