do not cross

I will never understand how in a public forum some people can be so anal about who reads their journal. Unless you go "friends only" [which is really odd to me in general, but whatever] you can not govern who reads your journal. Tons of people with and without LJs could be reading your journal, but just lurking. And is it really that tragic if they are?!

V showed me the most anal user info in LIFE! Here's a bit of it.:

How To Be Added
READ OVER MY INFO FULLY.
MAKE SURE WE GOT ENOUGH STUFF IN COMMON.
GO TO MY JOURNAL AND COMMENT ASKING IF IT'S ALRIGHT IF YOU ADD ME
THEN WAIT TILL I SAY OK AND ADD YOU BACK.

YOU WILL BE REMOVED AND BANNED FROM EVER COMMENTING ON MY JOURNAL IF YOU ADD ME WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE. YOU BITCH AT ME WITHOUT APOLOGIES. YOU HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON WITH ME. YOU NEVER COMMENT OR RARELY DO ONCE YOU HAVE BEEN ADDED. AND IF I JUST DON'T FUCKING LIKE YOUR SKANK ASS.
FOLLOW THE RULES ON HOW TO ADD ME AND WE WILL GET ALONG JUST FINE.

Whoa. I see someone needs ass even more than I do.
First, why does the person need to have "ENOUGH STUFF IN COMMON" with her to add her? Can they not just find her interesting? Maybe they're doing a case study on anal retentive people on the web. Then this whole don't add me if I don't add you first thing just boggles my mind. I DUN GET IT. I'm honored that anyone would want to read my madness. And it only makes sense for them to put me on their list to make it easier to read.

I'm seriously considering breaking all of her little rules just to watch her go postal. We only have like two "stuff in common," love and something else. I wanna add her first, which is already the big no-no. And not comment to tell her. OoooOOoooo. I might get banned for life!

This subject leads me to something else I've wondered about. How do people with huge friends lists do it? How do you manage with 100 to 200 friends? Everyday must feel like the equivalent of being absent from LJ for weeks. One days worth of entries can go back at least 5 pages. It just seems like too much to handle. I know we all have a story, but I can't imagine finding 100+ folks on LJ whose journals I'd want to read EVERYday. I really want to know your secrets. Do you use filters? Do you make yourself mentally block out the entries for that person who speaks in 1337? Do you turbo scroll? How do y'all manage?

(I really need to work on how to be Ebony w/o being offensive because that's never my objective.)

ranty rant rant, lj related
