If we don't learn from the past we're doomed to repeat it

With all of the evidence to show that there's a serious problem in NY between cops and minorities, this guy still keeps his blinders up. Bias or not, that's ridiculously naive.

Hausblack [1:48 PM]: i work at 145 and st nich
DyvineSweetness [1:49 PM]: really? are you a security guard?
Hausblack [1:49 PM]: nope
Hausblack [1:49 PM]: close
DyvineSweetness [1:49 PM]: ok i give up. what?
Hausblack [1:50 PM]: tell me where you live
Hausblack [1:50 PM]: 5 0
DyvineSweetness [1:51 PM]: yikes! lol
DyvineSweetness [1:51 PM]: you know black folk are leery of the police
Hausblack [1:51 PM]: yeah why i have no clue
DyvineSweetness [1:52 PM]: how could you not know? do you not pay attention to the news?
Hausblack [1:52 PM]: i am the news sweetie
Hausblack [1:52 PM]: the NYPD
DyvineSweetness [1:53 PM]: the nypd is not the news. but either way you should know very well why black people don't like the police (collectively speaking, nothing personal)(
Hausblack [1:53 PM]: tell me why...
DyvineSweetness [1:54 PM]: i hope you're playing dumb. seriously, with the nypd's history with black people how could we not be cautious about them?
Hausblack [1:54 PM]: in what sense
DyvineSweetness [1:54 PM]: and i know you had to have heard of at least two very public incidents
DyvineSweetness [1:55 PM]: in the sense that when they come around we guard ourselves more than the average white person would have to
Hausblack [1:55 PM]: louima was a disgrace
Hausblack [1:55 PM]: that was horrible
DyvineSweetness [1:55 PM]: that goes w/o saying
Hausblack [1:55 PM]: but Diallo was not black # one
Hausblack [1:56 PM]: # 2 that was the way it went and you shouldn't judge them unless you where there
DyvineSweetness [1:57 PM]: first off africans and blacks are on the same level. secondly, that's just one case. there's plenty of other cases the general public doesn't even hear about
DyvineSweetness [1:57 PM]: were YOU there?
Hausblack [1:57 PM]: africans and blacks are not
Hausblack [1:57 PM]: trust me
DyvineSweetness [1:58 PM]: are not what?
DyvineSweetness [2:00 PM]: i doubt those cops know an african from a black from a haitian from a west indian or otherwise. minorities in general get horrible treatment from nypd. and i know you're biased, but the leats you could do is be realistic about the problem going on in this city. whether or not you feel you're included as that kind of officer
Hausblack [2:01 PM]: you tell me you judge NYPD as one group then why not judge all blacks as one
Hausblack [2:01 PM]: SORRY GOT BOOTED
DyvineSweetness [2:01 PM]: when did i say that? i said we tend to guard ourselves more because of a general history. don't put words in my mouth. i judge no one
DyvineSweetness [2:02 PM]: no prob
Hausblack [2:02 PM]: well that's the thing a lot of people do
Hausblack [2:02 PM]: and honestly most cops wanna do there job and go home safe
Hausblack [2:02 PM]: there are always gonna be a few bad apples
DyvineSweetness [2:03 PM]: i'm not a lot of people. but i am realistic. and there is a serious issue between cops and minorities here. generally speaking
Hausblack [2:03 PM]: a guy I work with just got arrested
Hausblack [2:03 PM]: black officer drug trafficking
DyvineSweetness [2:03 PM]: i think there's more than a few bad apples, but ok
Hausblack [2:03 PM]: how do you figure more then a few?
DyvineSweetness [2:04 PM]: because there's more than a few instances of mistreatment of minorities
Hausblack [2:05 PM]: let me ask this
Hausblack [2:05 PM]: who commits the highest rate of crime in Harlem? ***
Hausblack [2:07 PM]: i arrest a black man and its racist cause i'm spanish yet highest rate of crime is black on black
DyvineSweetness [2:07 PM]: i would assume blacks because we are the majority here
DyvineSweetness [2:08 PM]: i got booted too lol
Hausblack [2:09 PM]: lol
Hausblack [2:09 PM]: who commits the highest rate of crime in Harlem?
Hausblack: i arrest a black man and its racist cause i'm spanish yet highest rate of crime is black on black
DyvineSweetness [2:10 PM]: i saw that. i would never call you racist for doing your job. i'm talking about racial profiling and needless, false arrests and the overall handling of business by the nypd
DyvineSweetness [2:10 PM]: not you personally
Hausblack [2:11 PM]: whatever lets drop it

***First off, wtf kind of dumb ass question is that? Blacks probably make up about 80-85% of Harlem's pop. Of course we would have the highest crime rate here! And I'm mad he wanted to stop there. I hate it when the convo gets a little serious and people back off. That solves nothing. These issues need to be addressed.
