This spider thing. It's out of control.
I'm not arachnophobic, but this is too much.
I killed one spider this morning. He was hanging on, just blowing in the wind of my fan. As I went to walk downstairs *immediately* after I'd killed the wind surfer, another spider DROPPED FROM THE CEILING TO THE STAIRS. I killed that one.
I called the apartment and asked for them to send someone to spray for bugs, as it's getting a little much.
I took out the trash, cleaned the bathroom, picked up my room, picked up the office and vacuumed the stairs. At the top of the stairs I see ANOTHER FUCKING SPIDER.
I suck him up with the vacuum, like civilized people do.
Charlie is utterly useless against this threat. Either that, or she's killed so many that she's actually full.
Other than freak out and wait for chemical help (pet-friendly, I've been assured) I'm not sure what to do. I'm not sure what I can do other than continue to kill them as I see them.
NOTE:
I'm not anti-spider. I have a healthy respect for their natural function. I usually have a 5 minute rule: spidey has 5 minutes to get out of my sight otherwise it's killing time. This rule does not apply to near-infestations.
I'm not happy about killing them. I know that they just want a safe home. I get it. But, based on the amount that are chilling *outside* my home, I feel confident that the one's I'm slaughtering inside won't be missed. I like spiders well enough and I value what they do. But seeing upwards of 5 spiders in one day is just too much for me.
And it's not because we're unclean or anything. I keep house, I do. It's just that...well...they're everywhere outside and they're bound to get inside as well. The best I can do is continue cleaning and killing where I find them. Again, I'm not happy about killing them, but a girl's gotta live.
