Yup, you heard correctly. My laptop finally breathed its last breath. He was a good computer, but his battery is completely dead. It won't even carry enough charge to complete the circuit and let things work when plugged it. I would have just gotten a new battery, but apparently something else is also burned out so ( Read more... )

Toshiba. I've had mine for five years and the only serious problem has been getting the fan replaced, and, to be fair, I let my cat sit all over it. No one I know has ever had a problem with a Toshiba.

Ha! I've owned three Toshiba laptops, and all three of them had picky-ass power supplies!
So now you know someone who had a problem with a Toshiba.

You should totally get an Acer Aspire One netbook. It's like three hundred dollars, and it won't run WoW, but it's tiny, cheap, and is just the most awesome computer I've ever owned.

Only thing is, it doesn't have a CD drive. But you can buy an external one or I can share with you my ... many ways around it.

Ya know, I can't give you specific advice (well, I could, but don't know how useful it would be), but I can tell you to google 'laptop name and model problem' and you will find any problem out on the web you ever wanted to know. That was why I didn't buy one laptop - too many problems!

I'm kind of tired, so if that didn't make any sense, PM me and I'll try to be clearer.

(I'm from the RvB community so relax.)

There is a way to get the hard drive out and recover the data. My Dad did it with mine when my laptop died, I have all the work from that computer safely on an external. You should check into that.
