IT'S A WHOLE NEW WAY TO SEEEEE )
So, really, when he heard a new city had shown up, Lance was all too eager to explore it.
Until he heard word of the:
"Monsters are wandering around," Lance reminded Will mildly, gesturing slightly for both Dragonite and Charizard to follow closely, which they did. "Don't get too close to anyone who looks -- ill."
Reply
Will laughed, prancing (there really wasn't another word for it) back toward Lance and Xatu, pausing to pat at the bird's head before resting a hand on his hip, watching the Champion as he surveyed his surroundings.
"I bet they're just some type of vengeful pokemon's- vengeance." Which was perfectly logical. "I wonder if it was a dark type or a psychic type? Or maybe even poison- we can find the root of it and cleanse the city! Wouldn't that be an amazing feat for two members of the Elite Four?"

Lance paused before leaning against Dragonite to think, who huffed softly at Lance's shoulder in agreement with Lance's statement. Charizard was steadily ignoring the conversation to stare into the distance, smoke unfurling from his nostrils, ready to just -- go.
"Or they could be Pokemon," Lance added nonchalantly, "but I doubt it."
Reply
He threw his arms around his giant green bird gleefully, completely ignoring most of Lance's words in favor of nuzzling his pokemon- who, as always, looked long suffering.
"She could probably psychically sense the source and lead us straight to it! The exterminators of evil, sin, and ugliness! The elite fou- eh, two!" Though the speech had- slightly less of an impact than he'd intended, Will didn't seem to notice, instead turning to face Xatu, waiting for her to psychically evaluate their surroundings.

"Perhaps the threat has been contained -- ?"

Will waved him off nonchalantly, before his eyes narrowed a little, the constant movement that practically defines him slowing down to an almost-stop as he watches his pokemon. Xatu blinked luminously, before taking a deep breath, her eyes flickering with the pale glow that indicated her psychic powers- before they faded back, dulled back into her normal eyes. The faint blue glow around her was only present for a second, before it died away.
He took a small step back, cautious all of a sudden.
"Lance- make your pokemon do something."

... but nothing came out.
Dragonite snorted to himself lightly in what appeared to be a dragon-form of laughter, but Charizard was less than pleased. He roared, snarling to himself, before attempting the attack again -- still to no avail.
Lance narrowed his eyes slightly.
"What in the hell was that?" Lance muttered, reaching out to touch Charizard's side lightly, to get the dragon's attention. "It is -- he is incapable of using Hyper Beam."

Lance cursed.
Will stared at the both of them before slowly taking a step back, watching the dragon master with apprehension in his eyes as he clarified the reason for said cursing, but- Lance said hell.
Will took a deep breath before nodding, trying his hardest not to hide behind Xatu while he was at it.
"...Xatu's psychic abilities are failing her as well."
Reply
"This does not happen in Adstringendum."
Lance shot Charizard a look -- the dragon immediately bowed his head, so Lance could look into his eyes carefully, to see if anything else was wrong.
" -- if they cannot defend themselves, we are not safe."
Reply
Will takes a deep calming breath and turns toward the dragon master, resting a hand on his hip.
"Just because they can't use special abilities doesn't mean they can't attack. We both flew in here- your dragons still have teeth."
Reply
Lance glanced towards Dragonite and Charizard, with something of a stony look, before sighing to himself. Will had a point -- a gateway to another world meant it was possible to get out of Adstringendum in the first place. The more they explored, the better their chances would be at finding a way out of this hellhole.
"An hour. No more, no less. If we come up with nothing, we leave. Any longer would be an unnecessary risk to our Pokemon and to ourselves."

He took a step back then, glancing out over the city before him. He couldn't say that he was particularly fond of this opportunity, but they both knew that they couldn't just pass this up.
"Do you think this could really be the Animus' doing?" Will asked as he started walking, carefully eying their surroundings. "I didn't think they had this much control."
