Twilight had been working her way around the borders of Veles, her mind set on investigating the circumstances of it's arrival. It stood to reason that the appearance of an entire city in Adstringendum would require massive amounts of energy- enough, hopefully, to leave a residual signature that she could analyze.

As it was, her course took her around the outskirts of the newly arrived city less to avoid it's undead population than the draining effects it had on her magic. She had little trouble outrunning the zombies so far, and as distasteful as it was, her magic was still strong enough to let her fling something heavy, if not send the offending zombie itself flying. And just as Twilight Sparkle was beginning to wonder at how long it had been since she had been harassed by them, she saw them swarming a vaguely familiar creature.

She had seen PM around the city she now called home, and knew that she was more resilient than the humans... but even with that sword slicing through one undead after another, Twilight didn't like what her odds looked like. Determined to take advantage of the fact that the zombies were all focused on PM at the moment, the violet pony focused her mind, and lifted a number of small stones into a slowly rotating circle around her head. With a final deep breath to steel herself, she called out to PM and let the stones fly with enough force to punch through dead flesh.

"Miss Postmistress! This way!"

She looked over at Twilight as the rocks flew, not even pausing to blink at the fact that she had been addressed by a purple unicorn. She'd seen far stranger in the Inciphisphere. Without missing a beat, she capitalized on the the distraction to break free from the crowd, giving herself room to breathe and, more importantly, putting her back to zombie-free ground.

"Thank you, miss...?"

While she waited for a name, she lunged back toward the crowd with a vicious swing of her sword that sent two zombies that had crowded too close together to the ground, sliced in half just below the ribcage.

"Twilight Sparkle- I don't believe we've met, but that speech you made about the post office some time ago left an impression on me. Iit was one of the main reasons I worked so hard on the library."

As she finished, two rocks shot past either side of PM, punching through a pair of zombie heads. As they dropped to the ground, relieved of their unnatural life, Twilight both winced and made a mental note. Aiming for the heads seemed to be highly effective.

She jumped back as one of the zombies she'd cut in half made a grab for her ankle, bringing the tip of her blade down through its head and partway into the ground before casually pulling it out of the dirt, preemptively relieving the other half zombie of its own head and backing up.

"It did? It's so nice to hear that, I had thought that everyone considered my idea stupid."

She ducked a lunge from another zombie, shoving it aside and driving her sword through its eye.

Twilight cast the last of her stones at the thinning horde of zombies, and charged up beside PM. She was wary of getting so close to the undead, not having a carapace to protect her from their bites, but she had to make careful use of her magic too- finding a means of defending herself that would be consistent and effective without taxing her magically.

"You made valid points though- particularly about parcel delivery. Adstringendum is as dangerous as it is big, and as spread out as we are there, you're just what the city needs to ensure that the supplies and resources we have get to their-" With one of the fallen zombies crawling towards her, Twilight cut herself off mid-sentence as she turned, delivering a kick that sent it's nearly fleshless skull flying. "-destinations safely."

PM smiled briefly behind her mask before her eyes narrowed as another zombie got within sword range and lost its head to a quick swipe. More blood stained her clothes and she grimaced at the smell, but didn't dare move the filthy cloth from over her mouth.

"Exactly! I only wish more people understood."

"Just give them time. I'm sure they'll understand once they see how well you do your job."

Twilight leaped well back from the spray of gore, trying to avoid getting as much of it on her as possible.

"Where were you heading today though?"

"I hope so."

She backed away from the thinning crowd of zombies, now cut to around half its original size, and gripped her sword close to her as she scanned the group for the safest target.

"Oh, I was just coming to see if anyone needed help."

"I hope you've had better luck than I have. I came out here hoping to find some evidence of how this city arrived..."

She sighs, so disappointed in her progress that she actually seems to forget the zombies for just a moment.

"So far though, nothing."

"It was probably the Animus."

She lashed out again, sending another zombie head falling to the ground.

"Or it might have even came here the same way we did."

"I had considered both possibilities... But at best, I can hope that it was the Animus. I've been trying different scrying spells all day in the hopes of picking up a remnant of whatever brought it here."

She stops as her gaze locks onto a length of steel pipe sticking out of a nearby pile of rubble. Without a second thought, she yanks it free and sends it scything towards one of the remaining zombies, announcing it's impact with a sick crunching noise as the shambling thing drops to the ground, both legs shattered.

"Absolutely no luck so far, I'm afraid. At least if this was the work of the Animus, I may be able to attribute it to the other-worldly nature of their power."
