WHO: Birdy, the Doctor, and anybody who might run across them
WHEN: Tuesday - February 6th, Early Morning
WHERE: Starts outside Nifelheim; goes 'til we get caught
FILTER: Semi-Closed (open to those who'd reasonably be in the area)
WHAT: Continued from here. With the whole settlement in lockdown, the Doctor wants to get to the bottom of everything-- uh, and it probably won't go well for anybody because he doesn't have a giant gun.
NOTES: Possible violence? I guess?
STATUS: GO GO GADGET ONGOING

((I'm writing under the assumption that the housing units have those standard external staircase fire exits. I checked the FAQ & Housing section and didn't see, so if I'm wrong I'll change it up))

Finally, somebody else with a thirst for adventure! Oh, sure, she had to be prodded a bit, but the Doctor found that typical for most humans. Nevertheless, being the only person he'd come across in this dysfunctional version of Earth who had bothered asking a question (any question) about the situation, the Doctor reasoned that Birdy was just the right sort of person to employ as a temporary, one-time-only companion. Of course, he wouldn't make a habit of this. For all he knew, she could be a terrible liability. Still, though he wouldn't admit it to most people ("most" being 99%, although he reckoned if he had K-9 around an even more accurate figure could be estimated), the Doctor wasn't cut out for adventuring alone. For all his sarcasm and condescension, he needed a companion-- particularly one that kept him grounded, so he wouldn't go off, half-cocked, on a fatalistic suicide mission.

Huh. Funny, that was what he was doing right now. 'Course, this was different. He needed to get to the bottom of this whole situation, figure out why he was even here-- why anybody was here-- and how to correct things.

Was he being meddlesome? Absolutely! But he was the Doctor, and as the Doctor, it was his duty to be absolutely, positively (destructively) meddlesome.

And so, when Birdy agreed to go along with him and check out the cause of the lockdown, the Doctor grinned widely and said, "Fantastic! You can be responsible for me!"

Grabbing her hand in his (whether she liked it or not), the Doctor sprinted towards the nearest fire escape and pulled out the sonic screwdriver. It had been acting up lately, but he hoped that it would still be able to perform the basic functions; at least the first thousand settings. Putting it on the proper setting for unlocking windows and/or fire escapes, the Doctor set about opening the fire escape with it. Although it made its usual sounds, the sonic screwdriver was clearly not working at full capacity; the lock had taken a full 4.635 seconds longer to open than it should've. He'd counted. After quickly looking around to see if the coast was clear, the Doctor opened the escape and hopped on to the stairs. Looking entirely too excited about the situation, he offered a hand to Birdy.

"Ah, breaking curfew. Makes me feel young again!"

((Just setting up the stage; hopefully subsequent posts will be brief))
