STATUS: [ONGOING ]
The sun had barely come up over the horizon when the group gathered at the North Gate. The salvage crew was already there, dressed in warm gear and outfitted with rifles as the military guards barked out orders. They were going to use little used trucks to gather supplies and many of the native children (as well as their parents) came out to see the trucks start and rumble with their massive engines. The stentch of leaded petrol clouded the air as final preparations were made.
They were only supposed to be gone two days, but with the way the soldiers were acting, it seemed as if they would be away for a week. It was always to be over prepared than under prepared. Final words were spoken to the newbies before they were loaded up in the second truck. Maintain radio contact on the two-way at all times. If anything moves and doesn't answer your call, shoot it. Anything you shoot, avoid it. Respond immediately to identity requests or risk getting shot.
After a few minutes, the giant turretts on the wall turned towards the gate as the big steel doors creaked and groaned open, allowing the salvage crew to gear up and make their way into the unknoan.
