journal -
1. A diary; an account of daily transactions and events. Specifically: (a) (Bookkeeping) A book of accounts, in which is entered a condensed and grouped statement of the daily transactions. (b) (Naut.) A daily register of the ship's course and distance, the winds, weather, incidents of the voyage, etc. (c) (Legislature) The record of daily proceedings, kept by the clerk. (d) A newspaper published daily; by extension, a weekly newspaper or any periodical publication, giving an account of passing events, the proceedings and memoirs of societies, etc.; a periodical; a magazine
- How is it possible to write accounts of daily events when not every day can have things worth writing. Some days are just so dull, and so mundane that they arent worth writing about. While other days have some of the best memories in the world, things you never want to forget. However, there is no reason to constantly write about things over and over. It defeats the purpose of making a personalized journal about specific events. Memories are fun, sometimes, but other times there are things you just don't want to remember, but you write about them anyway, because it makes you what you are, who you become. Based solely on what has happened to you. -
mem·o·ry -
The mental faculty of retaining and recalling past experience.
The act or an instance of remembering; recollection: spent the afternoon lost in memory.
All that a person can remember: It hasn't happened in my memory.
- Good and Bad memories, both make you what you are and how you think and act. A journal is just another way of holding onto memories. With the memory of a stoner, you need something like a journal.. heh.. because sometimes memories of past experiences, parties, get togethers, all become rather vague, and tend to mesh together a bit. However, something like this "live-journal" can't really be called a journal, because a journal usually consists of personal thoughts, ideas, and memories. The moment it is shown or read by someone else, its more just writing, and not a journal. Journals are for personal use, for personal records, not for other people to read. -
