[Sheldon was wide awake and now trying to move around. His ribs, arms, back and legs still hurt but laying there doing nothing never helped the muscles much. He sat up slowly, using his right arm to support his ribs and to keep from moving around too quickly, he had to move. He shifted his position and pulled the blankets off his slight frame to ( Read more... )

[Giselle's planning to visit again, only with food this time as well. Seeing as Sheldon probably isn't in a fit state to get any. She's got a covered-over bowl with her as a result.]

[He turns around slowly to prevent from being in too much pain. His eyes caught sight of Giselle and a smile came to him.]

Hey, gorgeous.

[He took a few slow steps forward and tried to straighten his back a bit to work out a kink which earned a wince.]

I was just thinking.....

[Giselle blushes, but can't help smiling at the same time. She shifts the bowl to one hand as she approaches, reaching to put one hand on his side just in case.]

Are you sure you should be up yet?

[The contact was a welcomed one and her smile was certainly a very nice addition to his day.]

No. Not really. Between Alphonse giving me a stern talking and Miyu forcing me back inside, I think I fulfilled my exercise quota for the day.

[He tried not to laugh since that action alone would hurt. He settled with a whispered chuckle.]

I'm too stubborn at times, I guess. I wanted to tell you...that I'm sorry....for all the trouble I caused you. I know I said it before. I want to say it again. And thank you...for everything.

[He slowly sat down on the edge of the bed. The action of standing up and saying what was on his mind in his condition shows an honor that he never lost. He felt he owed her much more than just a few words.]

Ah... well, Alphonse knows what's best, I'm sure.

[She sets the bowl down, and produces a spoon to go with it.]

Sheldon, it's... well, I'm not sure that I understand, but I'm not upset, honestly. I know that you had a lot that you needed to do.

[And with Giselle's words, he certainly couldn't argue the fact that she's once again right even if the words weren't spoke. It was now a time to move on.]

Hey, I was also thinking, and you can thank Trance for this, of becoming a social worker or a teacher. This way...well...I won't have to go far and I can still be productive.

I may be injured but I'm not useless.

[Then something occurred to him that he should tell her about that he hasn't said yet to anyone else. His new handicap. He swallowed thickly.]

Um...I don't know if Trance told you anything...but I can't see out of my left eye. I thought at first that it was from being hit in the head and it would come back, but it's been a little while now and I can't see anything. It's like....here. Put your hand over your eye and you'll see what I'm talking about.

A teacher? Oh, that would be so nice... [Giselle puts her hand against his shoulder gently, then as he keeps talking her face falls slightly. She shifts towards the uninjured side, though she looked towards his left eye still.]

You hurt...

[She raises one hand, reaching towards it, then stops short.]

Have you told Alphonse? I remember your saying it seemed to bit painful on one side.

It doesn't hurt anymore.

[His hand met hers on his shoulder and lightly caresses the fingers.]

I told him and Trance is going to talk to Ed about some special glasses to cover the eye. I'm going to look a little funny though.

[He gives a sheepish smile since his features could change slightly and he wasn't sure how this would effect them. Sure it was a small change but it was definitely a problem when it comes to depth perception.]

It's going to take a bit of adjusting and a little getting used to.

[He changes the subject from his condition to his potential career move and perks up slightly.]

So you think I would make a good teacher?

[Giselle goes to take Sheldon's hand, though she still carefully stays on the side that he can see. She'll probably keep at that for a while.]

I'm sure that you'll be able to cope. You always do.

I think so. It'd be nice, I think, working with children, as well.

It's been a while since I've considered it. I like literature and I think you know that from the stories I've told.

[He smiles fondly at the memory on the rooftop.]

Yeah....I think I'll do that.

Perhaps you could write the stories. They may not have them here.

[She squeezes his hand.]

Oh! I bought you some soup. I was wondering whether you were allowed to eat much, yet, and in any case I figured that soup would be good.

[He brightens up and shifts slightly to give her a little room and takes the bowl carefully in his hands.]

Thank you very much. That's very thoughtful of you. I've been keeping to the lighter things until I know I'm ready to handle the heavier meals. Dehydration and nearly a week in that place with no food really screws up the body.

[He didn't realize the bluntness of his statements and internally winces at the possibility that he might have said too much.]

Uh...well...I think I'll toss the idea around a little. Writing does sound like a good thing to do...that's more positive than what I have been doing.

[Now that was certainly an idea that could hold water in a place where the system was shot full of holes.]

Thanks for the suggestion.

[Giselle looks a little pained as he describes what happened to him; he's not the only one feeling bad about what happened between them. As Sheldon takes the bowl, she runs her hand across his hair gently, then reaches to kiss him lightly on the forehead.]

Getting better is positive. It's possibly the most positive thing that you can do, after all.

Is it okay if I sit here as well?

[He closed his eyes with a small smile gracing his features. Sheldon's head looked to Giselle. The light kiss and the gentle brush to his hair really helped him push the negativity away. There was so much more to look forward to and his regrets are now physical scars.]

Oh, go right ahead. I don't mind at all.

[He took the spoon and tasted the soup and his face showed a very pleased expression.]

This is really good. Have you had some?

[He had to blow to get cool off the steam lest he burn his tongue. He's had enough of burns for a while.]

[Giselle sits on the bed next to him, her feet dangling, hands curled around the edge. She seems to like seeing other people eat, but particularly Sheldon.]

Yes, I made quite a lot. There's such a good way of storing things here, it means that food keeps well.

Ah. You mean the use Tupperware and plastic wrap. Yeah, they work really well.

[As he lifted the spoon, his mind gave a flash image of something horrific with the mention of plastic wrap. He shoved that thought aside just as quickly as it appeared and looked at Giselle. In one quick moment, to keep that thought away, he closed the gap between them to kiss her.]
