[A boy, tall, familiar, long and loose blond hair blowing in the wind, tossing around his face and wide, bright but steely eyes. His lips and jaw are set, determined, as if he's been through something similar before and couldn't be less guarded or unhappy with his predicament

Alphonse, you should head to the clinic. I think a lot of the new arrivals will need looked over because of the cold. They can't even give out proper...
-=Tails off as she gets a good look through the snow; voice drops a little=-
Alphonse, what happened to your eyebrow?

After a moment, he offers a shaky sort of smile, taking a deep breath. He knows how this works... he knows what to assume. But this is strange, the fact that he still remembers...]
A glancing bullet wound, quite a while ago.
... you have the right name, Miss. ... but I'm afraid I'm probably not exactly who you're looking for.

You'll be looking for Midgard, then? That's where they're sending everyone coming through the gate today, it sounds like.

[He pauses, awkwardly.]
... you knew a "me"?

-=shrugs=-
If so, yes. If not, your look...a lot like him.

... but I don't think your memories and my memories match up.
[He fingers the scar she pointed out. Hell, he's being... remarkably calm about all of this. Even for Al.]

Well, we'll just have to compare notes later.
-=tips her head towards the apartments=-
Let me show you towards the apartments. It seems a lot of people are coming through the gate today, and I want to make sure no one gets lost in the snow.
My name is Jadzia Dax, and I'm a scientist, too. Though my world's a little different from the one you came from. Did they give you a room number?
Reply
Jadzia Dax. Yeah, I'd like that...
[For a moment, he frowns, searching for the scrap of information in the dirge of his mind. Midgard. Finally, he pulls it from somewhere.]
Nine, I think. Midgard Nine.

And help me keep an eye out for anyone else out in the snow. I don't want someone to get lost and sick because the soldiers didn't want to get cold.

... thank you for being out here, by the way. I really appreciate the help and I'm sure others will too. Back in Adstringendum, people weren't nearly as trusting, and with good reason, but... it cuts down on the amount that people help each other when they're afraid.
After I'm settled, is there something I can do to help?

We have more to worry about from the outside than from each other. We are all dead if we start fighting here and stop watching out there.
Those soldiers and the people above them don't understand that yet. Besides, unless we help each other, no one is going home, and I plan to give everyone that chance. Even Maes.
-=troubled breath=-
Before, you've been helping in the clinic. Running, it, really. But anything, right now. We're going to need to make sure that everyone has windows shut tight, that there are blankets for all of the newcomers, that no one's stuck in the hallways if we end up short on room space...I want to keep everyone in Midgard until the storm lets up, curfew or not. Especially anyone new. Or returning.
-=soft smile for him=- The clinic is inside, hard to miss. The door that isn't a room, the only one off the foyer in the building. If there's anyone in there, it's someone who know you...has worked with you. They'll be able to help.

[He's startled, though, to realize that the 'home' he's thinking of was that destroyed city between worlds.]
Back in one of my homes, I should say.
[Listening carefully, he nodded. He'd been involved in the clinic back home. He tries to ignore that frightening notion, disappointing the people who were close to him, worked with him, cared about him...]
That sounds like a good place for me, for now... but I should warn you that I don't have too much more than basic medical skills.

And it's where your brother would go looking for you, I think.
-=pulls her coat tight=-
Anyone worth knowing, back home?

... he's here? [He has to blink back a sudden rush of relieved, prickling heat behind his eyes, breathing inwards.] ... that's good. That's great. I...
[He swallows, pulling himself back together, and automatically reaches down to adjust the ring on his thumb -- the one that's not there.]
... yeah. A lot of them have left by now, or gone back to their home worlds, but... I had a few people that I really couldn't -- [Negi. Sasuke. What would they do without him? Even the others would be fine, but those two...]
