Z-Zack...? [Standing behind him, she tilts her head wondering if he was okay...hasn't noticed his bite mark, yet.] You...shouldn't be outside for too long...it's dangerous. [Walks up to him, so they could go home together]

*he pulls his sleeve down quickly as she approaches, but it's a sad smile he greets her with*

[Something about him doesn't feel right, but she couldn't put her finger on it. It was a feeling that she was having. She smiled right back, but worry was still seen on her face.]

What were you doing out here? Hm?

[zack_rules]

*he doesn't know how to break it to her, so he stalls for time a little*

[She nods her head] That sounds like a good idea, but...why outside? You could take a breather on the roof. [Where it's safe...]

Ahh, why don't we get you inside, 'ris? You've gotta be cold.

[pink_aerith]

Don't worry...I-I'll be fine... [She shivers a bit, so she hugged herself to try to warm herself up.] But let's go back inside where it's a tiny bit warmer. [She smiles and extends her hand, so they could hold hands together.]

[zack_rules]

*he's wearing gloves, and it's his non-infected arm, so he takes her hand, but there's a noticable hesitation*

*and he leads the way inside*

[She notices the hesitation, but follows him inside the building. Something doesn't feel quite right.] Zack...are you okay? You're acting a little off...did something happen today?

[zack_rules]

*he has to tell her.*

*he lets go her hand and pulls up his sleeve to just show her*

...I'm really sorry.

[She looks at him with worry clearly seen and wonders the reasons behind he looked so....sad...devastated even. Then the injury on his sleeve and apology was enough to connect the dots.] Zack....

[She steps closer to him and the injury in his arm, she wants to touch, but she doesn't. He rhand just stays a few inches away from his arm. God, she won't cry...she doesn't want to cry....]

.....s-something bit you...? [She looked at him with her eyes clearly watery-like and her tone of voice clearly sounded like she was clearly trying to be brave.]

*he looks back at her, wanting to pull her into his arms but not wanting to take any chances infecting her*

Yeah. People've been getting infected... I was careless, and I'm sorry. I know I promised I'd stick around.

[She really wants to give him a hug and just hold him close hopping that nothing would happen to him. Aerith felt pretty helpless and just a mix of so many emotions. She nods her head in understanding that people were starting to get infected, but she shook her head softly at the last part.] ....Zack....it wasn't your fault....it'll be... [okay? Nope. She knew it wasn't going to be okay because he was going to...she couldn't even finish the thought.]

...let's go home...please? [She held his other hand and began to pull him towards the building again. Aerith thought it would be a good idea to talk in private because she didn't want to make a scene. She couldn't help want to cry more than anything, but she was going to hold back as long as she can. She didn't want to upset her boyfriend even more.]

*he falls quiet until they reach their apartment, then he turns to her, giving her hand a squeeze*

It might still be okay, you know. I mean, it's not like I haven't died before.

[She tries to give him a weak smile and return the squeeze hopping it would be enough to keep her from hugging him]

....I know...but it's still hard...to let go. I don't want you to....go away....

[She looks at his hand and frowns] ....I'm sorry...for sounding so...selfish. It's just hard to...say good-bye...just like that...

Well... I guess we're both being selfish, 'cause I don't want to go either. We're on borrowed time here, but I was hoping to make good use of it.

*he lets out a sigh* I'll do everything I can to get back to you, okay?
