Oh. Does that mean you're too tired for a game? *holds up a chess/checker board and a bulky cloth bag* I made it myself. Kinda.
I don't know. I been paying attention to what the guards've been saying. Something about an alien. I know lots of aliens can be normal-looking, but I don't know if they know. Y'know? So I looked out and listened, and you're not hiding that good. So maybe other people know. Maybe they don't.
((Me thread-hopping like this okay with you? Molly doesn't know Garrus very well, but she likes him.))
Checkers! Or chess. Do you know the rules? *sits down on the floor next to him and looks around* Where should I put the board?
It's not your fault that they're racist. And you are kinda big. Too bad you can shift shape, huh? That's how my friend Xavin hides the fact that he's a Skrull. Karolina had a bracelet, but then she learned to control her powers, and she's human-shaped, and we don't really care, so she doesn't anymore.
Hmmm... Then we'll start with checkers. It's a little easier. *puts the board on the bed and dumps the contents of the bag on the floor, picking through it for bottlecaps* The painted ones are red. Or black. And the ones with the paint scraped off are black. Or red. It doesn't really matter.
Me too! I'm a mutant, you know. People can be really mean to mutants. *looks sad for a second* The world can be a mean place sometimes.
((And ironically I don't know the rules for checkers, only chess. I've played it a few times, and I think Molly prefers it to chess. At least, I think she's mentioned it more.))
... You made this yourself? *curious* Creative of you.
I'm not sure... what you mean by mutant... but... *oh crap sad child cop instincts are GO* I'm sorry. If it makes you feel any better I'm... not in a place to judge anyone who isn't human.
((Jump over the other side's checkers until you win them all XD))
Well... I found the board in the trash. The bottlecaps, too. I just scraped the paint off with a stone. It was harder coming up with the chess pieces. *finishes setting up* There. Pick a side. Red goes first. *pauses, and looks slightly embarrassed* Which one did we say was red, again?
I think... I think maybe you shouldn't judge people at all. Or you should judge them on being people. *looks ashamed* Some mutants are bad, too. And some of my friends are human, and they're good. So...
Still, I'm impressed... Good work. *very slight "smile"* You said the painted ones were red.
Sometimes, it's a person's job to judge. Officers have to--I had to. If I didn't... we could have been walking into a lot of bad situations unprepared. *pause* ... Every race, and every people have good and bad people. It's universal.
Right. I'll go first. You don't know the rules. *moves a painted scraped cap into position* Your move. The goal is to jump your pieces over my pieces and take them. *explains the very convoluted rules for checkers*
I wish you could tell just by looking at people.
((My bad! I just looked up the rules for checkers. Black goes first. Other than that, I'm lost. It's so much easier learning from a real person (as opposed to a fake one).))

I don't think a turian could hide among humans even if he tried... too tall, for one thing. Wrong body shape. Different gait. I did... what I could.
((It's fine ^^ An open thread is an open thread.))

I'm... used to racism, really. It's nothing new.
*blinks a little at the sudden exposition, but shakes his head* You have... interesting-sounding friends.

Sometimes you can...

Really? I can't. Except maybe when they're pointing guns at me.

Well, that's usually when I can tell too, to be honest.
