*leads Ling up to the apartment and... hesitates before knocking. is torn between wanting Lina to be home so he can show her off and wanting her to not be home so Ling won't have more fuel to tease him with*

*blinks up at the noise, shoves the talisman in her pocket and goes to answer the door*

.. Ed? The hell are you knocking for? It's not like you haven't been here enough times to--

*finally spots Ling. tilts her head at him*

Uh. Hi? Ed, did you know there's a guy with weird eyes standing behind you?

*looking thoroughly embarrassed with the Ling around* ...Uh. Hi Lina. *jabs a thumb toward his visitor* This is Ling. He's... from my world.

[What. Did you just insult my eyes? I'm very sensitive about that I'll have you know. Small twitch but a smile!]

[Puts his hands together and bows just a little]

It's nice to finally meet you.

*looks shocked. Formal guy is formal. S-- so different from Ed!* Nice to meet you too, Ling.

*flails a little* O-- oi, you don't have to-- stand up, would you? *scratches at the back of her head, motions for them to come in* Do you-- want something to drink? *frowns, feels OBLIGATED to be formal and polite to this guy now*

*turns and ignites the fire with a quick spell, motioning towards it* You guys're soaking wet. Go stand by the fire, you'll dry off quicker.

*blinks. has never seen Lina being all polite and stuff before* Lina, you really don't have to get anything, we're fine..

*looks back over at Ling and nods at him before heading toward the fireplace, peeling off his jacket and alchemying out the water in it, evaporating it*

[Would like a drink but doesn't say anything after Ed declines. Frowns at him a little until he sees Lina's spell.]

What-...

[Oh hey, fire. Ling makes his way over and stands by the fire. He looks at Ed like 'un-water me, please?']

*waves Ed off* Well, you get one anyway. *grins* Since when did I listen to you?

*leaves for a second with a wink, comes back carrying two glasses, levitating one beside him. Two are milk, one is water. levitates one of the milks to Ling, hands the water to Ed*

*makes a face at Lina, turning faintly pink at her wink as she leaves. alchemies the water out of the rest of his clothes, catching Ling's look as he does so, then rolls his eyes and goes over to do the same for him, frowning just a little* ...You'd better be happy now that you've met her.

*looks up at Lina when she comes back, frowning at all the milk as he takes the water* ...We really need to find someplace that has orange juice or something.

[Smiles! Yay no water.] I am.

[Takes the milk with a bit of awe]

Thanks. ...That's not quite alchemy, is it?

*rolls eyes at Ed* Or you should get used to drinking milk. It's good for you, you know.

Huh? Oh, no, that's magic. *waves a hand* I'm from a world that uses it. Or, well, some people do. Kind of like in your world some people can use alchemy. I've been teaching Ed some, and he's been teaching me some alchemy back. *grins* It's been fun.

I was way better at it back home, though. *makes a face* Here I'm pretty limited; my powers get sapped out faster if I'm not careful. I can pass out if I don't stop myself from doing too much. I can handle things like floating stuff if it's light, fireballs, your basic freeze arrow sort of spells. Minor healing. Stuff like that. *dismissive hand wave*

*makes a disgusted face as he sips his water* It tastes nasty. No way I'm drinkin' that stuff.

*settles down near the fireplace, drinking his water and just nodding silently to everything Lina says, as though confirming it. makes a mental note to practice magic more often*

[Listens to Lina intently] Like what Ed said about his alchemy being sapped.

[Moves to sit down as well and isn't able to bite back the wince]

*makes a face at Ed* It tastes great. *takes an exaggerated drink of it to prove her point*

*nods to Ling* Yeah, that seems to happen to everyone with "powers" around here.

*sits down beside Ed* So, you're from Ed's world too? Can you do alchemy?

*frowns indignantly, nearly shuddering at the display in horror and looks into the fire* Nasty. Cow secretions.

*nods again, confirming Lina's statement about everyone's powers, leaning up against her a little when she sits* No, Ling's not an alchemist. He's from Xing, they've got something else there.
