am i becoming one of the political freaks i hated as a teen?
As much as I enjoy pirates, I did not celebrate Talk Like A Pirate Day yesterday, b/c I was too disturbed at the fact that, despite everything else going on in the world, it was the TOP HEADLINE on Yahoo News.
Yeah, I'm no fun anymore.
I can't help it. I've been extra unsettled about the State of Things for years now (since, oh, 2001), and extra extra unsettled/sensitive lately. I know we all need a break sometimes, we need fun, we need to cut ourselves some slack, but I'm getting increasingly exasperated by people (or countries) who can't seem to see an inch past their own skin.
As one of my students very aptly put it today, society sucks ass.
