Happy New Year!

Jan 01, 2006 00:49

As I write this, it is the wee hours of the New Year. I can't believe it's already 2006. I have been out of school for a whole year and at my job for near a year. Looking back, the year doesn't seem to eventful, I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing, but. . .

Since the last update- Melissa, Marisa, and I helped Donna move into her new house. It's an awesome house. We took the majority of the day and got most every thing moved. The only things left at the old house were the couch, chair and queen size bed. Yeah, it was dark, the stuff was heavy and we didn't want to fool with it.

Christmas was pretty good. I had to work Christmas eve, but I was off on Christmas. I also was able to go home to Illinois with the family. It's always nice to see everyone. Santa brought some neat stuff this year. Mostly things for my apartment, but I did get a few things that won't be confined to my kitchen. All the Christmas decorations are down, I kinda miss coming home to the super cool lights out side, but there isn't much you can do about that! I do think the Holidays went by WAY too fast!

I went grudgingly back to work. It's the same old thing. . .strange complaints, crazy callers, and troopers who think you're an idiot. I spent my New Years Eve at Post, busier than crap. Why is it that nearly every trooper out tonight thought that since it was holiday that had to act like asses on the radio to dispatch?? I missed the ball drop. At about midnight domestics cropped up all over Anderson County, and I had one unit in Anderson who was 10-15, and my other Anderson unit was in Shelby. I had 2 Franklin Units who were busy. . .wich meant. . . no one to send. But that's not policy-WE HAVE TO SEND SOMEBODY! So I call my Anderson Unit who is in Shelby doing road checks:
Me: ### I need you to be enroute to (BFE Anderson Co) for a disturbance call. A male subject is outside the residence acting beligerant, go ahead.
Unit: 10-4, you do know I am in Shelbyville?
Me:(really pissed at this point) 10-4, I am aware that you're in Shelbyville. But ### is already 10-15 and enrt to the PD, my Franklin units are tied up and Anderson co doesn't have anyone to send. Go ahead.

Is it not my job to know where they are?? I swear, I think the annoyance and disdain in my voice could have killed in an instant. He happened to be the straw that broke the camels back. Not a good way to start off the New Year, huh?
I'm done ranting, I have to back in wonderful dispatchland tomorrow morning, so I should be getting to bed.
Happy New Year One and All!!
