Following my ride on the mrt yesterday, i came to realise why rek has numerous entries pertaining to train trips. First of all, the sheer volume of humanity packed into one coach guarantees that there'll be something interesting to look at at any given time. The seats face inwards, so people sitting down have full view of the people standing up, as well as the people sitting facing them. There seems to be much more activity going on in trains than in buses, and any breakdown in the mrt system affects more people than if a bus were to break down (reference x's pet peeve).

Speaking of pet peeves, one of mine is the fact that some people insist on boarding the train before those who are going to alight have done so. This particular annoyance extends to lifts as well. Yesterday, when i was trying to squeeze out of the train, the man in front of me bumped into a woman on his way out. The woman, who was trying to push her way into the train, made a "tsk" of irritation that was loud enough for me to hear through my headphones. As i passed her, my shoulder bumped her even harder than the man's did (showing exactly how tightly packed in we were). And it wasn't really on purpose. ;p Anyway my point is that if you're going to be so inconsiderate, you deserve whatever retribution you get. Oh, and the train was one of those that wait for a little longer than usual because it was at an interchange station, so there was no danger that it would leave without her.

By the way, do grab yourself a copy of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. It's one of the best reads i've had in a long time. Click on the pic for a link to the Amazon reviews.
