Lovely line. Some fantastic imagery in this fic!
...the barely there but more than adequately sharp thorns that cemented Lily as a rose in Narcissa’s mind instead of her namesake.
Going to admit to having a 'thing' for rose comparisons in people. I like to think that Lily would have to be a bit more of a rose to have handled being in love with James and still caring toward Severus. Also, loving the idea of a deviation from script and how it throws the two off.
I love this young Narcissa, who is not yet entirely sure of herself - unsure enough that even her denial is leaning toward realisation. I love that Lily is the barbed one, egging her on.
