So to recap the last two months: I've been working like mad. In the mornings, I'm entering attendance, fighting with DSC workers about scheduling, and answering angry phone calls from parents at Skyline Summer School. In the afternoons, I'm trying to convince people to open credit cards and save 10% on that day's purchases (Sorry, Kyle!) at Kohl's. At nights, I'm either sleeping, out spending my money with the crew (Two viewings of Get Smart, black jeans, and Madeleine's graduation towels were worth it), or at the Gray residence staring at Alyson, Laura, and Rachel and wondering what to do. Some highlights:
JUNE
Ladies Night at Rachel's. Basically, it was the one night where we weren't all working (We being Laura, Alyson, Rachel, and I) and we decided to take a drive to Rachel's to enjoy the pool. I was greeted by the two wet noses of Jake and Serena after struggling with the Kozlowski gate (apparently it opens UP and not DOWN). I then realized that I didn't bring my bathing suit because I drove straight over from work. Rachel laughs me off, saying "You can borrow Jackie's, she won't mind."
I proceed to put the thing on and fall out of it because her sister is TINY. Which makes for some good laughs.
Alyson decides to start a whirlpool and then yells at Laura for ruining it with her feet in the pool because she was LAME and wasn't swimming with the rest of us. Alyson then runs smack into an inflatable dolphin that hadn't been swept up in the current.
Moving on from the pool, we decide we're hungry. So we all piled into Rachel's mailman Jeep with no roof and took a joyride to Five Below and then Wendy's (Alyson needed a graduation gift for her friend and decided that she could get some good stuff there and AC Moore, where Rachel conveniently had a coupon). Wendy's is where the real fun started, though. While I had to pay full price, Alyson and Laura's value fries caused a bit of a problem:
"Okay, I paid 50 cents."
"I have pennies."
"Oh, I have pennies."
"So that makes...how much does it cost?"
And then the guy behind the counter cuts in:
"You two get a 10% discount, it's $0.89."
Whether he was hitting on them or he was sick of waiting for two charter girls trying to figure out how to pay $0.99, the jury is still out.
Then it was off to Rachel's to watch The Stepford Wives, which disturbed and confused Alyson. Lots of mini comments until the end where she just yelled, "BUT THAT MAKES NO SENSE!" to which Rachel replied, "Now you know why I never watch this movie."
JULY
Late June and early July were more of the parties. First was Emily's summer shebang, which was a lovely mash of Apples to Apples and burgers (for a little while, at least) and then Cranium (the game of the gods). Highlights of that game, all of which were caught on video (over on my Facebook, kids, watch and enjoy):
-Dave and Matt doing the marionette of "hula dancing" when neither of them have rhythm.
-Julez acting out a pie eating contest (not watermelon, Rashaud!)
-Emily and Eric doing the marionette of "florist" (NONE of us got this one).
Madeleine and I dominated until the end when we were demoted to 2nd place by E^2 (we missed like one Datahead and we were screwed). Shortly after that I went home, uploaded my pictures, and slept like the dead to get up and go to work the next day.
Madeleine also had her graduation shindig, which was Taboo (which is more fun than Catchphrase in my opinion) and Cranium (YOU ARE TOTALLY ALLOWED TO SCULPT THE NAME OF WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO BUILD IN THE PLAY-DOH AND WE WERE SHAFTED OF OUR FAST TRACK RIGHTS). What was nice was to see Anne (who I never see), Katrina (who I rarely see despite her living 2 streets away from me), and Dave (who I don't see unless we're driving home from IC). We decided to debate how lost we were, with me winning:
"We were not lost."
"We were lost."
"We were not lost!"
"Dave, we found a Sonic."
*long pause as the whole party looks at Dave and I with shock*
"Okay, fine, we were lost."
So all in all, it's been a good summer.

the crew, w-ton
