So I was browsing for some books to add to my growing library (which I need to do a thorough cataloguing soonest) and came upon Rarebooks Enterprises. Granted they are selling rare and out-of-print books (aka second hand books, actually), I was still disappointed to see that the book I have been wanting to buy for a long time now is being sold at an exhorbitant price and it is the softbound edition to boot! > _ < "
The book is "History of the Burgis" and the book's pages are already yellowed with age (it's only a decade old!) and they are selling it for Php1250! If I buy it, they were willing to sell it to me for Php1000. I decided not to buy anyhow since I won't be able to read anyway for fear of it crumbling under my fingertips. DX
Then I passed by Instituto Cervantes' booth and saw former co-worker who still works there. We caught up with things while trying to convince me to stay for a while and take the free diagnostic exam to determine my skill level so that when I enroll again it will be at the applicable level. I had to decline since I am about to leave to meet up with friends at TriNoMa and I was running late as it is. ^^"
I did find the lovable National Historical Institute's booth but having a hard time choosing which books to buy since my list is practically nil and I can't remember which ones I already have in my collection. Left the booth with a really sad face. Awwww. :(
Next found me at the New Day Publishers' booth and got curious with three (3) people sitting at two tables. It turns out they are authors having their first official book signing at the event and I realize they are writing for juvenile literature. I decided to buy their books and had it signed. I talked briefly with them and it turns out that I was the first to buy their books (for all three authors, the other two were actually a team collaborative effort) and they even had a souvenir photo to mark the occasion. (!) ^^"
I promised to read their works and give feedback when I am done. I am currently reading the collaborative mystery book, Only A Pure Heart Can Break The Spell by Eloisa Marie Hernandez and Melanie Quilla, which happens to be in Filipino with a lot of English sentences here and there aka Taglish (Tagalog-English). Though initial impression is that it does work well with the narrative but I am getting annoyed at the exotic unusual and unrealistic names they have decided to use here (I can't even figure out how to pronounce them properly. -.-"). Still ploughing through it every night so I may be able to have a fair review in a couple of weeks at the earliest.
The other book is by Gerese Axalan entitled, Conversations With My Sixteen-year-old Self. I hope this will be an easier read since it is a more humorous take on how one finds herself being one's best friend and confidante. Will read it carefully as it promises to be hilarious. ^^"
After this I then went out and got a bread to eat to still my hunger before I met up with friends and get home quick as I can to see if I need to accompany youngest bro to the doctor to see to his knee. Thankfully we didn't need to that as he was better at this time. *wipes sweat*
