Okay, so I don't know if anyone's been keeping up on the recent techslag news...but I'm starting to get seriously worried.
As I'm sure everyone unfortunate enough to read this livejournal of mine, I work for CompUSA, and have done so for a year and some months now. Been promoted three times, even.
But now, apparently, the trend that began at the beginning of the year is being continued. Last time it was 126 stores closed, now it's looking to be 103 stores closed. When I started with the company, we had 229...do the math.
Trying to find out from my GM if the rumors are at all substantiated, or just some disgruntled ex employees and the like trying to stir some shit up to cause problems (the rumor originated from a guy who was "privy to the contents of an internal BestBuy email" dealing with the posted profits and margins for CompUSA for the year to date..and the supplied numbers were WAY off base) or if I need to find somewhere else to work, effective January 9, 2008.
I find a store I like, coworkers I get along with, pay I can live off, and a position I like. One month later? Shitsville.
I've said it before, will say it again whether I stay in the industry or not, but god damn I hate retail.
