Perhaps things will settle down a little now that the pirates are gone.

On the other hand, perhaps not. Treasure hunts have a tendency to bring out the worst in people, especially working in competition... This may cause a few problems. And with the training camp the rest of this month as well...

Ah, well. We'll have to do the best we can, I ( Read more... )

Meant in general, and good! Keep that up. You... coming to the training drills? Good time to prove you're not just some frail little Queen, you think?

Of course I'm coming. I'm just worried about what might happen while everyone's there.

Why is that?

Even if just for a few hours each day, we'll all be training while everyone else is treasure hunting. If things go wrong, we won't be there to stop it.

And before you say anything, yes, I know the training was scheduled long before any of this happened.

Think we should divide who goes on what days?

Perhaps. It couldn't hurt matters too much.

Good. We'll do that, then. If this shit's real and the wrong people get their hands on it, that's no good.

It doesn't even have to be real. I've seen the sort of things people are capable of doing in pursuit of something like this.

Not much different from general conquest, Queeny.

There's only one big difference between it, and I'm not going to let my people tear themselves apart for stupid shit. Civil wars don't happen on my lands!

There's a difference between conquest and insanity. My country was invaded because the Archadian Emperor's right-hand man was a lunatic obsessed with a stone.

... a stone? Was there something worth while about the stone, at least?

The stone was nethicite, a substance that warps the fabric of the universe. A being called Venat drove Doctor Cid mad and forced him to search for it. The power of the Midlight Shard destroyed the country of Nabradia, and Archadia took over Dalmasca in search of the Dusk Shard. Thousands of people died because of a stone that shouldn't have existed in the first place.

My husband, Rasler Helos Nabradia, was one of them.

[ Oh, damn. He really can't say that he's any better if he was in said Madman's shoes. So he takes a moment or two to respond to this. ]

... Sorry.
