NAME: Joule
CODENAME (IF APPLICABLE): Joule
SOURCE: Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express
AGE: 25
GENDER: female
ROLE: Indie villain

AU BACKGROUND:
Physically destroyed by Iskierka during the Brotherhood's assault Joule was pretty much scraped off the floor of the Conference hall and transported back to Electra's HQ. Determined not to let one of his precious Components "log out of the mortal database" Electra threw all his time and resources into resurrecting Joule. The finished product was that Joule's mutant consciousness was transferred into a robotic husk (IT'S MARVEL IT'S MARVEL IT'S MARVEL and a musical about anthropomorphic dancing trains SSSSSH).

Unfortunately nobody pointed out to Electra that the majority of the tech he bought to kit out his new robotic henchwoman were originally made by Stark Industries. Whoops, PLOT.

PERSONALITY:
Broken down and remodeled several times over, Joule is as artificial as one can get.

Besides a voracious greed for all things beautiful and rich, very little of Julianna ven der Merwe’s personality remains. Years of mental manipulation and careful grooming by Electra has produced a person that is perfectly molded to his tastes: from Joule’s bold sensuality to her undying devotion Joule is a picture-perfect cog in Electra’s grand clockwork PR scheme. She adores her fellow mutants (rarely finding fault in her natural brethren, no matter what side of the political spectrum they fall upon), is unnervingly loyal, extravagantly bestows her love on anyone who gives her the time of day and is obscenely competitive to boot.

However, the most significant downside to Joule’s personality is her complete lack of rationale for the consequences of her actions. Through Electra’s careful programming Joule was encouraged to be excessively blasé and impulsive as to how her powers were used but she was never truly taught the consequences of her destructive abilities. Every time she destroyed a building Electra was there to pay for the damage. Whenever she used her powers to threaten or intimidate humans Electra would step in and praise her for being so authoritative against a lesser species. Each instance of mindless destruction was covered up through expensive PR handwaving. As a result Joule delights in using her powers to great theatrical effect and literally doesn’t care in the slightest as to whether any negative consequences might arise.

And, err, not much has changed since she got all robot-y. Oh, wait, no, besides THE BURNING DESIRE TO KILL PEPPER POTTS (haha Maria we need to talk)

APPEARANCE:
Her new robotic body is built around the desire to remain fairly humanoid. As a result, Joule's default appearance is that of an average looking twenty-something with short red hair and a thin, wiry (no pun intended) build. Joule isn't particularly fond of this default appearance and invests the majority of her spare time in applying layer upon layer of heavy makeup in order to "feel more like herself". In Joule's mind, her true appearance is her costumed form which one could hardly call subtle.

If one were to take her by the arm or hold her hand they would probably feel the mechanical bits underneath her latex skin. The skin itself is fairly thin and it's distressingly easy to damage enough to reveal the circuitry beneath it. If one were to look very carefully around her mid-section they would be able to spot the thin seams that can be peeled back to reveal her robotic chassis underneath. SHE'S HOT.

POWERS:
Canonically, Joule is Electra’s dynamite truck (lol, yeah) so for the purposes of this AU she can create varying kinds of explosions. She thrusts her arm forwards as if throwing a punch and propels a ball of explosive energy that explodes on contact with any dense material. She can vary the size and intensity of the explosion but they pretty much have to explode with the first thing they come in contact with. The exception to the rule is the fact that water can more or less absorb and harmlessly dissipate Joule's explosions.

UPDATE TRA LA LA: Retains her explosive mutant power but lacks fine control over it largely due to the ridiculous amount of electrical interference that now goes through her brain. Basically, she can make big ass explosions in THIS DIRECTION or THAT DIRECTION but can't really control them any further than that. :'|

Joule is essentially a human consciousness contained within a robot body encased in a bag of skin and hair. So glam.

The robot body itself is pretty impressive: when her battery is at full strength she can punch through walls and generally stomp on everything. She no longer feels pain and although her latex skin is delicate she can take a lot of damage before her arm or leg falls off.

Has a handy array of tools to help out in various situations: her voice modulation unit can be reprogrammed to record vocal imprints and she can do a handy R2D2 thing and carry all sorts of things in her harddrive brain (PLOTS! PLANS! "HELP ME OBI-WAN KENOBI" MESSAGES! YOUR FIREFOX BROWSER HISTORY!).

All sorts of bizarre booby traps await any technopaths that attempt to hack her internal systems; Electra considers himself "part-computer" and has put an awful lot of time and effort into perfecting anti-viral and anti-meddlin'-kids protection for both himself and his staff. Of course, these things are computer programs themselves and therefore aren't always going to work. Any technopath who manages to overcome Joule's software defences will find themselves with limited access to her motor systems (and may very well be able to render her unable to move) and, with a bit more work, any information in her "harddrive" brain. Her primary systems are controlled by her "organic brain" (not a brain at all, but rather her human conscious which is SOMEHOW IN HER ROBOT SHELL /Marvel handwave) and are therefore unhackable: these are things like her ability to use her original mutant powers, her thoughts, her emotions, and her will to live (her 'on/off switch' as it were). Of course, if she were to be hacked by both a telepath AND a technopath and the same time she'd be completely fucked. :'|

ANYTHING ELSE?
After years of working as a Component Joule finds herself inexplicably attracted to electrical sources and can withstand more powerful electrical shocks than your average mutant. That's not to say she's immune to them, rather that one should not be surprised if they accidentally caught her licking batteries for fun. Lawnmower batteries.
