Yuletide!
I've only ever written one story for each of the three Yuletides I've done. Sometimes I think I should try to write more, but December is an awful time of year for me in terms of attention and energy, and once again I've been working on a novel. So: MY ONE STORY WAS
All the Worlds Aflame for
TheDoodyPoo. (Bioshock Infinite, Elizabeth/Daisy Fitzroy) Some choices are illusions. But some mean everything.
Initially I wasn't sure if I would be able to pull this off in the way I wanted. But I was asked to focus on the female characters in the game, and how the female characters were treated in Bioshock Infinite is something I frankly had real problems with. So I ended up really enjoying addressing that and putting a different spin on it.
I GOT
the bone mother by
kangeiko. (Deathless - Catherynne M. Valente, Baba Yaga and Koschei the Deathless) Look, said Viy, and held out the world for her inspection. Look, milochka, at what I have for you.
How can I even say how much I love this fic? I asked for something of the history of the chyerti, and that's exactly what I got - and so much more. The prose is absolutely pitch-perfect, and the imagery feels like it's right out of the book. The approach, too - it's at once an origin story, a twisted kind of romance, and a meditation on family. Which is also what Deathless is. Love love love.
