My initial editing pass of A Murder of Crows is done. It was around 65k words; it's now hovering at around 87k, so I added about 23k. Most of that is a bunch of new scenes, but some of it is existing scenes fleshed out or rewritten. I hammered out some better characterization. I improved my villain. I think it's a better book, overall.
Those of you who offered to beta read and haven't yet gotten back to me: I AM STILL INTERESTED IN YOUR FEEDBACK. Don't think it won't be relevant just because I've already done some editing.
It may still need some additional work - I mean, it probably does - but I think the bulk of the major editing is actually done at this point. It feels very book-shaped. When I finished the first draft the skeleton was there; now there are muscles and a lot of skin.
Again, I have a really good feeling about this one. We'll see.
But for the moment I'm glad to be able to stop working on it for a bit.
