school is so close to being over. i'm ready. twenty hours of work, a book, a presentation, a ten page paper, a three page paper, a poetry portfolio and two exams stand in my way of being out of here. all by next wednesday...eee...it's becoming increasingly difficult to put my focus on all this with only ten days left, especially since a few of my close friends won't be coming back here next semester so i'm trying to spend as much time with them as possible.
last night was fun. the usual- hung out at various places with various people. ended up listening to the talking heads and doing the hustle with amy for maybe the third weekend in a row. checked out a "deep house" techno dance party...which was kind of awful and mostly gave me a headache. smoked a j with a this guy from my poetry class who turned out not to be the huge asshole i thought he was. had random sketchy guy who definitely doesn't go to school here try to sell me drugs- "girl you want some sid- you know, the droppity drops?" while standing around a fire in sage circle. apparently i passed out in destiny's room around three, but i don't remember falling asleep, only waking up at ten this morning pretty disoriented with scar-like pillow lines from not having moved once all night. my roommate was supposed to be gone camping all weekend, but came back early a couple of hours ago. i feel cheated. grr. everyone's going to the formal tonight...which at wilson means you wear whatever "formal wear" you can get from the free store or goodwill and get drunk at a dorm. i've opted not, i know, i'm lame.
today was really nice. holly took me out to breakfast (coffee and bagles) at the dripolater (cute coffee shop nearby). we talked about poetry and conquered a ny times crossword. i went with holly, nora and charlie up to this reservoir, holly made me close my eyes for the last part of the hike and walked me onto this bridge that juts out almost to the middle of the lake. we sat up there for a long time. it reminded me of home. later i hiked up to dogwood pasture with destiny and amy and played in the grass.
when we reminisce we put each other in whatever memory even if we weren't all there together.
The Peal contributer's reading was tonight, the turnout was significant but not all that impressive, it was fun to be reading again though, i hadn't in a while now. this is the third edition of the peal i've been in, one for each semester i've been here, and it gets better each time. exciting stuff.
oh and ps- everyone go see The Fountain. it's pretty incredible.
