So I thought I better post and well, my mind is a vacuous thing at the best of times, but at 8am I find myself thinking about... Not much really! However, Susan's excited 'Lost' post led me to consider the new TV that I have seen so far this season.
'Shark' - James Woods on Telly?!?! I was looking forward to this but it REALLY needs some teeth (bucketafishhhh!), a great actor does not a good TV show make... And its on CBS, so I'll always forget it's on. I forget CBS exists.
'Jericho' - PASS!
'Heroes' - Now, for OBVIOUS reasons I was SO excited to see this, and unfortunately it fell short of my (perhaps unrealistically high?) expectations. Don't get me wrong it was pretty good, and showed a decent understanding of why these kind of stories CAN work and HAVE worked so well in comics, also it NEVER hurts to see Ali Larter with her clothes off! I found myself waiting for the big moment, the 'WOW!' moment and it never really came. I must say the Japanese character is cool, as is Larter's (the mirror twin), but the kid who dreams of flying and his Governor running brother ('Ex Machina' anyone?) lacked any 'hook' for me. I actually found I was more excited by the "coming soon" preview at the end of the pilot - it looks like this is not going to be a straight up super hero deal, but shouldn't they have hinted at that a little more IN the pilot? Anyways, it has legs, I'm gonna stick with it.
'Studio 60...' - This is pure quality. Some of the best TV writing on Network TV I have seen in a long, LONG time, along with an incredibly strong cast (Matthew Perry was the ONLY talent on 'Friends' and he's proving it here!), a great premise, and the balls to bite the hand that feeds. Seriously folks if you're not watching this, you need to! I thought the pilots opening scene was one of the best beginnings to a new show I have ever seen. Brilliant, brilliant stuff!
OLD new shows...
'Earl' - genius, as ever! Earl's English accent is wonderful "oh and by the way, what you call Soccer, we call fooooootbaaaaaall!" I pissed my pants laughing, no really I did!
'House' - more fucked up than ever before, typical FOX shock TV, but man I LOVE it!!!
Bring on 'Lost'!!!
Laters Potatahs!
