I think 4 weekends in July, at the Camino Real Playhouse's outdoor historical park (one year we got 250 people there at The Tempest when I was Ariel!) and I'm not sure how much!!! I hope to see you there!!! :) :) :)
OMG! You played Ariel in The Tempest? So did I!!! (...although I did it as a favor to a friend and only had a week to learn the part!) This is too weird! ...and I just saw an almost disturbing production of it at Shakespeare's Globe in London!
Yes, I played Ariel when I was 12-13. :) It was my favorite role. But I don't know now, Bianca just may take the cake because in OCHSA's production of Taming of the Shrew, that was my dream role and I was handed the Lusty Widow (which, don't get me wrong, was great!!!). Since then I've wanted to play Bianca... What production did you see at the Globe and how was it 'disturbing'??
It only disturbed me because I'm a purist, and I figured that if I were seeing The Tempest at the Globe that it would be a very traditional production, but 3 guys played all the parts, sort of like the Reduced Shakespeare Company, but a lot of it just didn't work.
Oh, the actor I took over for in college was a guy. ...and in the original production, Miranda was played by a boy. The gender didn't bother me (even when the guy said his name was Miranda in an extra-masculine voice--that was hilarious.). Sometimes it seemed more like a giant dramatic interpretation rather than a professional production.
