new music PSA
We got like 75 new CDs at the station the past couple days, so I've been listening to a lot of new things. Here is what I think of them, and I am right.
BEST: the new rasputina "frustration plantation". i know it's really goth of me, but this album is much more comet gain + better azure ray and is grrrreat. wonderful musicians. i love cellos.
OTHER GOOD:
simone white "the sincere recording co. presents simone white"- cat power/rachel yamagataish...the red threads "tension pins" not my thing, but good alt-country minus the twangy voice...inouk "search for the bees ep" what the fuck is this? i don't know if its good or bad yet, but every song is different, from raptureNYness to lush aloha-esque...eight frozen modules "the abduction of barry" nice electronic soundscapes. lots of blips.
DECENT/I DONT CARE:
the owls "our hopes and dreams" less cutesy vocalizations. you sound like a baby that just learned it can make noises...aveo "battery"...trapdoor fucking exit "be not content"...son of the velvet rat "by my side" austrian lo-fi man likes the beach boys...the slats "pick it up"...rockfour "nationwide"...lying in states "most every night"...early day miners "the sonography ep"
EMBARRASSING:
git "shoot the lights out"...dead kennedys "deaf club"- a live album jello sent us an email apologizing for. stop beating a dead horse, you pathetic old men...lil pocket knife "pants control" the worst of northern states long island girl rap over le tigre-esque music that could be decent without the voices...lanterna "highways"...secret mommy "mammal class" unlistenable grating electro noise...agf "westernization completed" this album kind of gave me the creeps. somewhat abstract electronics with female spoken word (don't like this style) plus they miked the voice so closely and mixed it so loud i could hear how spittle-y her mouth was and that is so gross i just can't listen.
and my computer won't recognize the new rainer maria.
