So. Freakin'. Bored.
What better time to do the "seven interesting things about me" meme for which
knirirr tagged me. If I can think of seven things; I refuse to promise they are at all interesting...
1) I am a druid, but not a pagan. I took two sets of A-level-standard music exams which let me be accepted into the
Bardic Order of Great Britain, a strange opium dream of
Iolo Morganwg's. I was let into the second grade (blue robe) on the same day as Ioan Gruffydd, of Fantastic Four/Hornblower/&c fame. NB this is not the
OBOD, and was always conceived of as a Christian organisation. The Archbishop of Canterbury is also a member.
2) I have had a class in how to do someone an injury with an orange bic biro. This being on the basis that the poliss can't yet nick you for going equipped if you're just using "the first thing I found in my handbag", in this case a biro. It is surprisingly effective.
3) I have no idea whether I believe in God or not, but have been confirmed in the Church of Wales nevertheless. This nearly didn't happen as the vicar at the time was not pleased with the following two questions - "If Jesus came down and lived as a poor man, and the poor are to inherit the earth, why is the Church so rich?" and "Surely all the religions actually worship the same god, if you tell me there is only one god, they've just all got different names for them in all different languages!" It is possible I was a difficult child.
4) Despite the above, I had no idea about the Christanity thing in the Narnia books. A visiting vicar gave a sermon on same once in church, and I remarked to my mother how clever he had been to make all those connections, whereupon I was chastised for being an idiot child for not noticing. Of course, now I know, I can't go back to not knowing, which I found infinitely preferable.
5) English really is my second language. When I grew up in Scotland, we spoke Welsh in the house.
6) I have no clue whatsoever about grammar. It wasn't ever really taught in my school. Though I've always had a knack for knowing what sounds right and what doesn't, even if I can't tell you why.
7) I was (am?) a published poet.
Apparently I must tag folks, though don't feel obliged, but it would be interesting to hear from
